This about sums up my feelings. I’m very cautious about anything having to do with Tolkien’s works and mass media conglomerates. I did appreciate the fact that Tom Shippey was involved in the first LOTR movie, although I can’t stand Peter Jackson.

I really don’t try to…most of the time flipping past it and I see something naturally abominable. Or I’m at my father’s and he’s watching it constantly…
I remember when CNN first started and its slogan was give us 15 minutes (or something) and we’ll give you the world. You didn’t sit there for hours just absorbing commentary. And then when it came to commentary you had shows where it was more than one person representing more than one view arguing, or rather compared to today, discussing issues. Things like Firing Line, Agronsky and Company. I think the McLaughlin Group is still on the air.

I really don’t know where this should go. It is far too disgusting to go in the “stupid thread” We have no “offal thread” to post stuff that stinks this high. As a former local LEO and now a federal LEO, I cannot grasp how a deputy killed in the line of duty has anything to do with the Democratic or Republican party.
A charity LEO event was organized to help raise funds for the slain deputy’s family. The Sheriff of Ventura County and the police chief of Thousand Oaks cancelled the event because a republican was going to be there, staying this was “not Trump country”. I am utterly amazed by this. How can you deny an event for one of your own? If you are a republican living in Ventura County, are you even allow to call 911? If you are republican living in Ventura County will you be arrested at the polling station?
If this information / story is true (I have listed 3 sources) then I hope these two “Democrats” pop their careers into the cesspools of other Democratic Socialists.
There seems to be more to the story than simply not wanting republicans there. It claims to be a charity event but there were going to be speakers. I think the fear was that it would devolve into a political rally.

I agree. You and Zecarlo bring up a good point. Maybe that was actually the true intention. Sad that our political process has reached this far into the gutter. I need a new term, what do you call anger and sadness mixed together?

Eh I don’t think that’ll hurt Biden anywhere near as much as Trump. Unless Biden develops health problems he’s still leagues healthier than the obese guy in the oval who doesn’t exercise because it’ll use up all his hearts beats.
Agreed. I think the future will depend very strongly on where Bernie throws his support.
I think if Biden OR Warren were to offer Bernie the VP spot right now (and obv he takes it) that person wins. Hands down.

True. She’s only 70, and chugged a beer like a 13 year old that just snagged one of his friend’s dad’s beers, didn’t like the taste, and had to make the evidence disappear.
