I stomach school shootings now. You don’t see me knocking on local people’s doors to take their guns away.

What does stomach mean to you? Are you out there confiscating shit? That’s terrifying.

Thanks for the “almost”, @doogie

Add me to that group of Dumb Asses, @pfury

You should look into polling and how everything works. It’s super fascinating.

It also really helps to digest polls, when you read the actual intent and use of the poll instead of taking the screenshot and assuming it means what you would want it to mean.

School shootings are a result of crazy murderous individuals shooting innocent children at government mandated schools. The children have to be there or the state takes them away from the parents. Then they can’t be bothered to protect them.

The scenario we’re talking about is the coastal elites nullifying the second amendment and sending armed men with guns to literally take liberty and property away. I wouldn’t be surprised if a big chunk of law enforcement refused to comply (like the Marine asked by Bill Clinton who said “no”). There’s already been sherriffs in some anti gun states who’ve refused to comply with some laws they find unconstitutional.

So do you stomach those?

To me, “stomaching” something is accepting that it’s happening, then intentionally doing nothing to fix or improve the situation.

I ask again, due to be referred to as one of the most infamous murderers in human history, how you define “stomaching” something. Posed to @twojarslave as well if he’d like to chime in

If people started shooting up cops for it, would you stomach it? Or would you march on Washington?

I’m guessing you’d do absolutely nothing about it. Correct me if I’m wrong.

By stomach I mean support and vote for it. You’d allow your elected representatives and executive make that happen.

I support armed officers at schools and metal detectors and lockdown procedures at every school. Rich white ones, inner city ones, doesn’t matter. That is of course the best bad solution.

The real solution is to dissolve public schools, give tax payers the money back and let individuals decide where kids should be educated.

No political party is shouting support for murder of children. One party is shouting support for gutting the bill of rights and packing the court to to strip citizens’ of rights that are explicitly in the Constitution.

I’ve never heard stomach it referred to like that. Apologies that you misinterpreted what I meant.

I get the mindset but disagree because I don’t want kids and the public exposed to that crap.

Obviously I’d prefer we just didn’t elect racists.

A gun confiscation program would be disastrous on so many levels. How many dead LEOs would we see if we sent them to confiscate weapons from people who did nothing wrong and were made into criminals by a pen stroke? How many dead citizens?

It is especially concerning because figuring out who has weapons isn’t actually possible without a ton of investigation, so how many people with no guns are ready to have their door kicked in because of bad information?

It would tear the country apart.

Almost as bad as a war on drugs. Almost.

Not to mention dramatically increasing the value of existing guns on the black market. Lots of incentives for people to become criminals in a post ban framework.

Considering that guns and ammo built today could still work in 100 years, it probably would be very similar to the war on drugs in terms of cost and outcomes.

Because you aren’t thinking and praying enough.

Need more guns to protect against guns doesn’t make a lot of sense to me personally.

And a very real one. Sadly some right wing radio dumbass put this guy on his national show. Way to give people the idea that you can get fame by threatening murder.

We need a War on Violence. Fighting it will involve lots of violence, but it is necessary if we are ever going to live in a world with no violence.

I think that this is where it would become impossible. These guys are also people’s neighbors, kids coaches, etc. Same with national guard members.

Maybe I have too much faith in humanity at this point, but I just don’t see all of these guys turning on the people that they’ve sworn to protect, grew up with, etc.

I want to believe you @SkyzykS . But if we look at history, all it takes is the right demagogue combined with a shitty economy and humans are more than happy to sacrifice their neighbors on the altar of the greater good. It’s dangerous to think “nah we’re different, that can’t happen here.”

How many people in the US have been thrown in jail for doing the least violent/aggressive thing a person can do… smoking a joint?

Those are good points too. Can’t really refute them either. Too much history to point to.

Divide and conquer would probably work. Take guns from a certain class of people, then turn the fact that if they can’t have them, neither should anybody else against everyone else.

If it were to happen it would have to be an organized, long term plot rather than troops marching door to door as of mm/dd/yyyy.
