I agree. They will likely be turned in, or taken from felons. Unless it’s determined that they’re no longer worth worrying about(because various laws have reduced their usefulness to an agreeable level). Then, we’ll stop hearing anything about firearms.
Correct, it’s not going to happen, neither is single payer health nor free guaranteed healthcare for illegals, nor open boarders. So why are these the talking points of an increasingly insane sounding democratic presidential field.
While they are trying to out woke each other and delve further and further from reality, what are they expecting to gain when your losing even pretty damn liberal people. Pretty damn liberal people are starting to ask real questions. Marianne Williamson is starting to sound like the most sane candidate and that’s a problem.
Seriously, it just looks like the candidates are just saying shit. “Fuck it, free t-shirts for everybody.” “Let’s give Mexico back it’s land!”, “Kill Whitey!”
Because they are the type of things said by candidates? We elected a dude who made insane statements like Mexico paying for a wall, no big deal to default on the national debt, healthcare for everyone that’s cheaper, National debt eliminated while not touching social security and Medicare.
None of those things had any chance of happening and it didn’t stop him from winning.
But, but, but… Hillary.
I have so idea.
Hence…MAGA…four more years…
Right…but not only did he drag the party down like I predicted, he’s also dragging down the national discourse and campaigning quality of EVERYONE. I mean look at some the things the Democratic candidates are doing: cursing on national TV, expletive containing rants, trying to out do the original douche.
Swearing and cursing is now a presidential campaign strategy.
WHAT. THE. FUCK.
Can we please go back to the days when the worst we had to hear was “strategery”?
The sad thing is it’s showed that the “how” doesn’t really matter anymore. He didn’t need to tell people how Mexico was going to pay, how everyone would get healthcare cheaper, and how the national debt would be eliminated. Republicans were fine with him just saying those things and saying stuff like we’re going to win again. The how he was going to do these things was never seriously asked.
I’ve said on here that if you wanted to just promise it all. Everyone gets healthcare, everyone gets high paying jobs, etc. Democrats get zero credit for doing the same thing as Trump. Maybe we will wise up eventually and require presidential candidates to thoroughly explain how they plan to accomplish things.
I’m doubtful though at least in the short term. We elected a reality tv star with no filter and who is far more concerned with Twitter and what people are saying about him than anything else. His opponent was one of the most disliked career politicians in history. We should demand more but our actions aren’t reflecting that.
I wouldn’t say Republicans were fine with it. I think people who were less affluent, religious, had some easily triggered bigotry, liked liberal tears, etc., were fine with the empty rhetoric and voted Trump. Republicans saw in Trump an opportunity for tax cuts.
Amen to that, @H_factor.
I didn’t expect him to win either. Does it makes sense then for the left to say insane things, that nobody wants, just because Trump said crazy things… that people did want.
Those days are gone. And perhaps that’s not a bad thing. The presidency is supposed to be a representative of the people. People these days cuss, rant and rave and throw tantrums like never before.
It’s just veneer, I still care most about policy. And I am not liking most of the policies being propose by the left. Take my guns? Fuck off. Open borders? hell no. Single payer health care? Disaster, death by a thousand cuts. Overhauling the entire economy (green new deal) no thanks.
Well I would hesitate to say no one wants everything they are talking about. Democrats are polling ahead of Trump and leading the congressional polling significantly.
But I agree that they shouldn’t get away with shit that won’t work just because Trump did.
You got my vote!
The President doesn’t need to embody the worst parts of people to be a representative. I want our politicians to be able to speak with respect and dignity. To have control of their emotions.
Tracking general election polls a year+ out is hardly an accurate measure espeacially when this is your demographic:
“This Washington Post-ABC News poll was conducted by telephone September 2-5, 2019,
among a random national sample of 1,003 adults, with 65 percent reached on cell phones
and 35 percent on landlines. Results have an error margin of plus or minus 3.5
percentage points for the full sample, including design effects due to weighting.
Sampling, field work and data processing by Abt Associates of Rockville, MD.”
Cherry pick much? What about the same polling company showing him 45 a week ago? Why would you ignore aggregate data? The RCP average which is many more data points has him at 44 percent approval.
It’s almost impossible to find recent polls where all three Democrat front runners don’t lead him.
And the place you did pick from still shows poor averages.
Show me the polls, I’ll show you the sampling demographic…
Look them up yourself. You don’t know much about polling you’ve made that clear in the past by not understanding how to read and interpret them and by not understanding how they have changed in the last decade. Earlier you thought they were all landline.
And your poll doesn’t contradict anything I’ve said. Trump has low approval ratings. Democrat front runners lead him. Democrats are far ahead in generic ballot polling.
So either people like some Democrat ideas or the other side is so awful they plan to vote for them anyways.
See, @pat?
This is the kind of Trump apologist crap that Conservatives never, EVER would have said or done with President Obama. In fact; Conservatives went overboard (IMO) in ridiculing and criticizing a man (President Obama) who by all indications is a pretty decent person.
(And please don’t attack what little intelligence I have by giving me that bullshit Conservative line that “We (Conservatives) attacked his policies, not the man…”)
Yet Trump seems to always get a pass.
Unbelievable.
Also…to represent people does not mean to act like the worst of them.
