POP! Goes the Democrat!

It is very possible that it is a localized thing. There are reports that some VA’s are better than others. WV is a poor and poorly run state, albeit beautiful for campers…

Oh it’s easily the most gorgeous place I’ve ever been in my life. And while I haven’t been everywhere, I’ve been to a bit.

As long as you don’t have to live in WV, or interface much with the locals in any way, it’s an absolute treasure

Gordian knots tend to be unwound in one manner only.

In fairness, the GOP did that with aplomb last time.

Not that I think ‘free healthcare for illegals’ and open borders are gonna be a massive vote winner.

Add the famous losing issue of gun control to the mix and they’re gonna need to get a lot of mileage out of Trump’s personality.

The weird thing is that a lot of the GOP
Is for open borders as well but they act tough.

As I understand it, the Washington republicans are much more open borders than rank and file party members or voters.

Much like being ‘anti-corporate’ as a congressional democrat.

Yeah the anti corporate Wall Street protestors with their iPhones.

Illegal immigration is just the perfect GOP thing. It profits big business while also giving poor and middle class an enemy. Then they can distract and say “oh you don’t have as much because these brown poor people come. Vote for us we want to fix it! Nudge nudge wink wink

You hardly think they’d solve it! Good God, man! They’d have nothing to run on next time!

I’ve said that all along. Team Trump didn’t do anything when they had total control because they want the diehards to chant build the wall and lock her up for a full 8 years.

Not voluntarily, no. The VA and TRICARE do great with acute, service-related, injuries (so, burns, amputations, etc). Follow up care sucks.

Once separated from service, the VA has pretty much all the efficiency and quality of service as your local DMV, but without the charm.

I am well out of the income range for normal VA care, but could theoretically still have them treat service-related injuries. The staff are so incompetent and pathetic, I’d rather take chances with the reservation drunk who calls himself a shaman. I’ve simply paid cash for things like having surgery to re-set a skin graft (from a burn from a bomb) that started tugging lose (because private insurance won’t pay for service-related injuries).

The only way to fix the VA would involve tactical nuclear weapons. It’s a lost cause.

I’m told that we just need to listen to the experts on socialism. Bernie and AOC know how to get this mess sorted out.

I don’t know if they could fix it but I think they would actually care about fixing it more than the chickenhawks and elitists in DC do.

How do Bernie and AOC not fall into this category?

I love this. So much gold

I don’t think either would count as chickenhawks.

As far as elitist, who financed Hillary vs who financed Bernie? AOC was a barista or something. I don’t think she sees herself as a patrician.

As far as Bernie goes, anyone who has held a Senate seat that long is a political elitist.

AOC is definitely a politician. She gamed a flawed system to get elected in a overwhelmingly democratic district. She uses her platform to espouse insane ideas (political rhetoric). She has also already proven unwilling to compromise (a hallmark of partisan politicians).

Besides all that, I don’t trust someone my age (I turn 30 this year) to make laws or offer any sound advice especially when the only life experiences she has are bartending, a crappy liberal arts degree (supposedly in economics, but I know high schoolers who know more about that than she does) and a serious command of social medial platfoms.

Didn’t she actually go out and meet the voters while the incumbent couldn’t be bothered? I’m not saying she is a good for America but I wouldn’t call her an elite.

And compromise is just another way to maintain the status quo.

Have to disagree with you there. In the world of party line partisan politics with mixed House/Senate control, compromise is the only way anything will change. Both sides need to give a little to gain something useful (currently, neither side compromises and therefore nothing changes). Compromise is the entire reason behind the construct of Congress.

If one believes that many GOPs - pols and zillionaire donors, are absolutely desirous of openish borders with massive immigration; then why continue to say Trump was in total control?

Case in point: Ryan was without question open border, unlimited immigration. He absolutely had the power to stop Trump’s wall building and immigration reform. Im sure you agree with this, as it is Constitutionally and in reality true.

Yet you can’t refrain from Trump never ‘really’ wanted his signature plank. If you have evidence of him saying just that as opposed to saying Congress build the wall, lll build it with military, etc etc, please enlighten.

Thanks for sharing your story @thefourthruffian. Nobody knows it like the people who have been there. I do hope we can fix or at least improve it without burning the whole thing down.
If you had the option to change just one thing about the VA experience to improve it, short of nuking it, what would you do?
