This has to do with the hypocritical behavior of Conservatives over the past 11 years as it relates to how they have judged the 44th and 45th President…and how they held them to completely different standards…
At least most of that was behind the scenes. And doesn’t Trump fit about everyone of those already? When these people talked to the American people did they choose words carefully?
The big difference is if your kids watch Trump they may see their President call for violence against fellow Americans. They will see him use foul language in front of them. They will see him bully anyone that disagrees.
Visibly while he talks and tweets it would be very difficult to find any modern examples of filth on his level when it comes to frequency.
I’m not trying to say he’s the first shithead politician. I think he’s the best example ever of “do I want my 4 year old watching the President speak?” Hell if he slipped up a time or two it would be understandable. Everyone makes mistakes. He doesn’t even attempt to think about the impact his words can have as our highest elected official.
Is Trump a RINO? He doesn’t give two shits fiscally and has said as much.
You may disagree but I think Republicans have supported so many things under Trump they used to be against that I would hesitate to say we can call anyone a RINO right now. Wasn’t Lindsey Graham considered a huge RINO for a while? Now he’s a diehard. They will change their stripes whenever it fits best. That’s why they are all going to be fiscal hawks the moment they lose power. Bring out the ol we have a spending problem whenever a D is inaugurated.
Of course I don’t think Dems are any different in what they will change into to suit the current flavor of popularity.
By catering to special interests and drifting further and further left in an attempt to appease an outspoken minority, the left has abandoned A Lot of appealing real estate. It’s only smart politics for reps to act like that’s their wheelhouse now. Blue collar, job stuff, etc., all fertile ground left fallow in favor of rainbows, free school, and non citizens.
Instead of standing united chain like across a wide platform, they’re standing in clumps and cliques on islands.
“She’s got game. She is very talented, she’s very smart and she’ll be a force to be reckoned with.”
lolz.
Graham knows Trump would chew her up with his Big Mac and Fries in a General Election.
Also…I think Kamala Harris is the Carly Fiorina of the DEM Primary. I think she has “had her day” in calling out Biden…and will fizzle out just as quickly. It’s one thing to have a media moment…it’s another to sustain momentum in what will be a brutal Primary season and what stands to be the most brutal General Election ever.
Agree wholeheartedly on the fertile ground. However the things I was talking about was more no tariffs, talking about fiscal responsibility (even if ignored), talking (and sucking off) our former enemies, etc.
Which candidate in that whole gaggle can you think of off of the top of your head that is for everybody, and doesn’t stand out as having a particular cause? Haris? Warren? Bootyguy?
Anybody that doesn’t alienate or forgo the majority for a special interest?
That’s what happens when there are 3,635 Candidates in the Primary.
You are almost “forced” to find your niche.
It’s doubtful that any of them will go all-out Medieval on the other candidates (like Trump did in the 2016 GOP Primary)…so you are left finding you little niche and exploiting it.
I have no doubt that the DEM candidates are using numbers and Polls like we have never seen in order to stake out their positions…as Trump is yucking it up with Rocket Man on the DMZ…
You don’t think Graham is using Trump more than Trump is using Graham? Trump likes flatterers and the GOP politicians are using that to get what they want. We all know that Trump really doesn’t care about policy and he has no ideological beliefs. He was a Democrat from NYC who turned into a birther. Although he doesn’t know who wrote it, he is an example of the only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about. That’s his mantra.
As I look at the two South Carolina Senators…Graham and Tim Scott…IMO, they really are a solid pair, that covers a wide swath of South Carolinians (as Senators usually?/Should? do, as opposed to the very partisan House, and it’s appeal to small, often partisan districts).
However…that isn’t always the case. I think Burr and Tillis from North Carolina are as Trumpian and Boot-Licking as they come (keeping in mind that I am viewing them as an outsider…if anyone is more familiar with the two and of North Carolina politics….please chime in…).
So back to your original question and premise, @zecarlo…it could well be that Graham is “going-with-the-flow” to keep the Trumpublicans of South Carolina appeased and to assure himself reelection.
He’s a shrewd politician… and as I mentioned earlier…I would not be displeased if he and Scott were my Senators…
