POP! Goes the Democrat!

I think all 25 of the candidates should get matching resistance tattoos to commemorate this historic primary.

That would be so rad.

What the democrats used to think about immigration:

I think an Oprah vs. Kanye 2024 election would be a rad election scenario…

These are always fun but in the grand scheme I never think these type of things actually hurt parties. They did the same thing with gay marriage and I don’t think it had much impact on Obama’s chances.

I don’t think people have that long of a memory or don’t really care that people change their minds on things.

Of course I think it’s stupid for people to change so often and do 360’s but if we are analyzing “changes” in terms of electability I think a lot of recent evidence would suggest the effect is fairly minimal.

It’s natural to gang up on the front runner. Obviously you have to bring them down to win.

I agree on Sanders. Other politicians share some of his ideas or similar ones. The ideas that made him unique don’t really anymore. I think most Dems don’t think he can win the general. I imagine he will poll well still but I would be surprised to see him win.

I still think it’s Biden’s to lose and he is certainly someone who can manage to lose it. I imagine he will come down some. Common after these type of “gang ups.” However he still has a size-able lead in many areas. Last I remember he was about twice as high as Bernie who was two. I also think last I looked he had pretty decent leads in the early states.

In that regard, he has been a huge success. He has dragged the party to him. It almost doesn’t matter if he wins given that.

I don’t think I’ve seen anyone who I’d be confident of winning. Yang perhaps? Warren is possible. Harris would lose.

Before he became Fartacus, I would have liked to see Booker win, alas, his days as a crime focused moderate have given way to his current state.

It’s like watching a man go the opposite of super Saiyan.

Yang is done. I think he made a good run of things but no traction. I am one hammer blow from putting Bernie in the ground. Maddow made a fool of him with his own words. Of the 23 or so candidates the top 10 are the only ones worth paying attention to.
Right now, Biden has it until he doesn’t.

Aye, you’re not wrong. I was merely noting that I think Yang would have a decent shot of winning.

I’m not confident of anyone winning. This is a race Democrats should lose. They are facing good economic conditions and no Iraq style foreign policy clusterfucks.

It’s only because Trump is a jackass that they have any chance of winning. Average sane Republican is probably 18 approval points higher than Trump right now and Dems are focusing on congressional seats.

If they win it will be because they are going up against maybe the only politician in history who could lose with this scenario. The most unpopular president since we’ve been tracking it. And what makes him unpopular is simply him being himself. A disgusting human being and maybe the biggest narcissistic in history. A compulsive liar with zero impulse control and someone you would never want children to emulate in any way.

This.

And it probably is as good a place as any to put myself on the record…again…as saying barring some complete economic meltdown…some military miscalculation (even though I don’t think that would be enough for Trump to lose)…I simply don’t see a scenario where our current Narcissist in Chief loses…

And I agree with all of you who have posted it…Biden probably has the best chance…and he is already getting shot by the Dem Circular Firing Squad…

Trump should feel confident about his chances of winning in 2020…

Did Trump win because of Trump or because of Hillary? Even then she still won the popular vote. So how many people who we would consider Dems that didn’t vote at all because they disliked Hillary are going to vote against Trump this time out? How many people who voted for Obama but didn’t vote for Hillary or Trump are going to vote against Trump this time?

Good questions, @zecarlo, that I think we really don’t know the answer to.

One thing I do know. For better or worst…the DEMS have lost (or maybe embraced?) the “branding” fight…and the “Socialist/Tax and Spend” mantra…with all of the income-redistribution and “taxing the rich” dogma that comes with it…and this scares a lot of people shitless (at least when it comes to their pocketbooks)…and they see people like AOC losing businesses like Amazon for their poor districts (what was the reason exactly?)…and they are leaning toward pulling the lever for the Cheeto…

Do, and will, the GOP rape us just as much?

You bet they will…and will spend just as much, if not more, than the DEMS. They have proven that. But they have won the “branding” battle…which will put Trump back in the White House for 4 more agonizing years…

Yeah although I think it’s more fiscally responsible to tax the rich and spend than cut taxes on the rich and spend personally. Not saying either are the best ideas.

That said none of it really matters. Neither party is even pretending to be fiscally responsible at this point. But Republicans have done well branding Dems as the party of free shit paid for by someone else. Republicans do the exact same thing but have dodged the branding for it.

Honestly Republicans are in a good spot. They aren’t acting like they want to reform Medicare or Social Security like they used to. Hell Dems would probably be better off just saying we’re going to give you these things and we won’t raise taxes on anyone. No one gives a fuck anymore or even pretends like the debt matters.

EXACTLY!!!

I would say it’s a significant reason of why he won. He went up against arguably the one politician who was hated in a similar fashion to her. He’s not going to face anyone with near the unfavorable levels of Clinton. That said he is going to have the advantage of having positive things to point to that you don’t have before you’re President.

What’s weird is that to me if Dems ran someone else they would have won. And that if Republicans ran someone else they would have won and would be in shape to crush this election (all things being equal).

Dems ran the one person who could have lost to Trump in 2016 and Repubs have the one person who could lose 2020 with the economy good and no major wars.

Absolutely correct. If the fiscal hawks wanted to act, they had two years to do so. Ergo, I can deduce that elected fiscal hawks are much like the unicorn.

They’d all best hope that this engine is one of perpetual motion, otherwise it’ll all end in tears.

Will moderators even ask questions about the national debt for the Republican vs Democrat anyways? I haven’t closely followed the Democrat race to know if any questions were asked or if anyone mentioned it.

We know Trump doesn’t care. He has said we can default and cut a deal and that we print our own money anyways.

Oh well I guess it’s no different than saying it’s a problem and doing nothing about it. Now we can all just ignore it instead of pretending it’s an issue Americans and politicians care about.

If Dems win it’s going to magically be a big problem in Republican land again.

Rinos are not fiscal hawks.
Their mantra is global nation building using war and cheap labor thru porous borders and offshored jobs.

Yep…“Fiscal Responsibility” will most definitely be a “thing” again.

What I really want to see is that if there is a Democratic President again…just how Conservatives will attack any “moral” failings that President may have…or maybe the need for the President to be a “moral compass” for the World…or maybe the need for them to be a strong ally…or maybe whether or not the President is being “Presidential” enough…

Lord knows they certainly did a 360 in how they judge Trump in comparison to how they judged President Obama…

Damn if you think JFK the serial womanizer, LBJ the corrupt racist womanizer, Clinton the serial womanizer and crook are something to emulate - you need your head examined.
