POP! Goes the Democrat!

I should have been more clear. I meant it will be interesting to see where the GOP goes as a party post Trump.

You know honestly I have no idea how to read it. One day I think one thing, the next the opposite.

They’ll probably either shift to a ‘compassionate conservatism’ (ala GWB) to engage the Latin vote (as GWB did) or they’ll move to a blue collar, hard borders party to engage with white working class voters (ala Trump).

That’d be my guess anyway, I make no claims to prescience.

I don’t think this hurts him… He’s still the best option they got if they don’t want to go completely off the rails. Hell, even the ‘metoo’ movement didn’t stick to him. Unless somebody ‘obama-like’ comes out of the wood work, he’s the best option they got. Gaffes and all.

That’s why I vote on policy… Those who have the policies most closely aligned with my own gets my vote. It’s a much less rigid system than party politics.
Right now, Trump will be getting my vote because he has the most policies I agree with. In 1960, I would have voted for Kennedy. Same for '68, had Sir Robert not been killed.

Cory Booker.

I agree. I still think he’s the likely nominee.

Not sure. Obama had a gift, Cory seems pretty ordinary to me. You could be right, just not sure. Just because he’s black, doesn’t make him Obama.

Added to the “closet” Trump Voter…and the Voter who would rather have their nails pulled out than vote for a DEM…And I think the combination puts Trump over-the-top in 2020, @pat.

It was half a joke. He looks the most like Obama.

I have heard some of his speeches, and they are pretty good actually. I could see debates helping him out.

The parallels with the UK nominee is striking. Boris Johnson is a philandering candidate with a spotty political record and lackadaisical grasp of honesty, and he has a solid chance of winning because Jeremy Corbyn is the opposition leader.

Boris is called the ‘Trump with more Latin’ and it seems pretty apt.

He does not seem dumb to me. And debates could help, but he just doesn’t have an ‘it’ factor. Maybe he’s gunning for '24, getting his name out. I don’t see him in the ring in '20. I could be wrong.

Booker isn’t black.

The extreme trajectory to the left the DEM’s have taken can put me in the category of ‘pull my nails out’.
If you openly embrace socialism, you lose me completely. My family went through to damn much to escape it at great personal risk, only to see it implemented in the place we went to escape it from.

The UK has as close to a Marxist in opposition as we’ve ever had. Our previous socialist governments were British patriots, particularly Clement Attlee, this is no longer the case.

That’s a ludicrous claim.

Couple this with the extreme hypocrisy exhibited everyday by the GOP, and I am really in a “no-man’s-land”. Both Parties are becoming more full of shit than the New York sewer system…

You’d need to be from Newark to understand.

I’ll have to bow to your experience regarding Newark, having never been.

The mayor, Sharpe James, who Booker ran against, said that Booker wasn’t black enough.
