Makes sense that businesses would move somewhere with shitty roads and schools.
Agree with the rest of your post. Here I think a lot of it comes with HOW you implement the policies, not just “blue” or “red” policies.
I think, for instance, we can all agree that going from the current minimum wage to $15/hr nationwide in 1 fell swoop with not a lot of warning would be disastrous. I think that’s true no matter the benefits of the idea of higher minimum wage.
Politicians are terrible at implementation. Otherwise they’d be business owners and C suite execs
Culture and religion play a big role.
Conservatives don’t owe you one negative utterance towards our preferences. Maybe that childish condescension and shaming works on your college students.
Easy there, hoss.
Of course they don’t owe anyone anything. To do that they would have to have principles to utter something about. Considering they sold those out they can (and will) continue to stay silent as Trump does whatever he wants. Well they may share some AOC memes or something but they ain’t calling out their own.
Conservatives may still exist but the GOP is not where they are. Socially and fiscally the GOP decided to stop even pretending the be conservative the moment they made Trump carry their banner. If the GOP was conservative they wouldn’t have picked Trump in the first place.
Trump is a Democrat from NYC. He doesn’t go to church, he believes in strict gun control and he has no problem with big government.
Lol someone is tilted af
And Left leaning Centrists/Classical Democrats would have to do the same with their elected officials as they the march toward a Democratic Socialism destination, via attempting to destroy every vestige of tradition.
…or abortion…or infidelity…or screwing over small businesses (“the working men and women”) and even municipalities…or having China make he and Ivanka’s products or use their steel in his buildings…or illegal immigrants (at least the ones who work in and on his properties)…or big governmental spending (hey…the debt will be somebody elses problem)…or cosying up to psychopathic dictators and despots while disparaging long-time allies…
(I’ll stop there. The list is endless…)
Yes the list is endless.
The one for those overlooking the Democratic Socialism candidates would be a library.
Yeah, those wealthy coastal elites love their socialism.
How is it condescension to point out that a political party that claims to stand on for certain principles isn’t standing up for them? It may be criticism but it isn’t condescension.
Conservatives don’t owe me anything - but they certainly owe themselves some fidelity to integrity. And they’re not making good on that debt.
And, housekeeping note - I don’t have any college students. But if I did and they were in the mold of the current group of “snowflakes” - well, they’d be indistinguishable from whiney “conservatives” who can’t handle legitimate criticism of Trump and the GOP and get butthurt at the slightest complaint about Dear Leader.
Sure, that’s criticism rather than condescension… haha.
So who do you like for President this cycle?
Unclear, too early to tell - but I’ll be pulling the lever for a Democrat or third party candidate, depending on how it shakes out. That’s a guarantee.
Biden’s unforced errors are positively Trumpian.
Indeed. We could be looking at a killer matchup of old people fucking up by talking.
Right. Im mostly conservative (moderately) and I won’t touch the GoP any more
Will be interesting to see where they go post Trump whether that’s soon or in 2024.
My guess? Their homes. They’ll either not vote or remain GOP.
