Poll:Cell Phone Etiquette

It annoys me to be behind people in line (post office, grocery store, etc.) who continue talking even when they are checking out. I was at the post office a couple of weeks ago and a woman was talking loudly on her phone the entire time she stood in line. She continued to talk on her phone while the postal worker tried to ask her questions about what she needed. Everyone in line was shaking their heads. Same goes for grocery stores when someone’s brats are running around, the parent is talking on the phone, and the cashier is trying to check them out.

I agree with a previous poster. Don’t over analyze most situations, as it’s just plain rude not to treat the person with whom you’re dealing, including the person behind the counter, like a person.

When the law firm where I used to work introduced Blackberries, the problem only got worse. Attorneys would be in the middle of a conversation, their Blackberry would vibrate, and they’d take it off their belt and look at it. As if the email couldn’t wait two minutes. I finally decided to start walking off, since the conversation was obviously over.
