The whole movie was biased and based on a traitor. Every Marine was stereotyped in the worst way possible and at a time of war what were they thinking? References to the metal being valuable and why we are there is like saying Iraq for oil. Its amazing how all in one it bashed capitalism and the military while they are using the movie to get rich. Amazing right? Only in America because you do not see other countries bashing thier own people do you?
So your idea of capitalism is mercantilism/corporatism?
That is fascism not free markets.
Newsflash: capitalism and the free market are two different things.

Not really.
They have vast areas were it is basically one and the same.
Unless you have a super special definition of capitalism then I will concede that because I do not argue over definitions.
My God, were any of you retards even watching the movie or are you just blowing smoke out of your asses?
What part of “they were mercenaries” did you not understand?
In the year 2154, the RDA corporation is mining Pandora, the lush, Earth-like moon of the planet Polyphemus, in the Alpha Centauri system. Parker Selfridge (Giovanni Ribisi), the administrator, employs former marines as mercenaries to provide security.

This sounds about right to me.Listen im white and this sums it up.Maybe not today but 100 years ago and further. The Brits use to travel the world and claim all the land thay found as theirs and still occupy much of it today, look at south africa.
The white race has claimed land all over the world then taken it as if it were theirs all along, I mean shit the whites came to america and gave the indians blankets infested with small pox.
If you dont think white have stepped over dead bodies for personal gain take a minute and read about the Rothschilds. “Although Evelyn Rothschild may seem like a harmless old man, make no mistake about it. Rothschild and his ancestors have hand-picked presidents, crashed stock markets, bankrupted nations, orchestrated wars and sponsored the mass murder and impoverishment of millions”
That B.S. about us giving blankets infected with Smallpox to Indians is historical untrue. Good job on spreading the lie though and spouting off more sh1t you know nothing about.

Captain Eucyer of the British army did indeed give out infected blankets.and In a letter (1763) to Colonel Bouquet, Lord Amherst wrote, “Could it not be contrived to send the Small Pox among those disaffected tribes of Indians? We must on this occasion use every stratagem in our power to reduce them”.
So wether it was carried out in large is up for debate, but it was proposed.
Are you out of your mind? You spend all your time here trying to whittle the definition of capitalism down so that it is sufficiently narrow so as not to include any unsavory occurrences. You’re the one with the super-duper-special-official definition of capitalism (basically, "anything I like, and nothing I don’t).

In all seriousness, what is the difference between the two? I was always under the impression that they had the same meaning. If you have a different definition of the two I would be curious to hear it.

And again, not really.
Capitalism for me is short hand for free markets, property rights and a government that stays out of micromanaging the economy.
Insofar as that leads to trouble, which it rarely does, I am willing to concede that there are problems.
If you rebrand capitalism as an Orwellian fascist, imperialist nightmare, well yes, those societies are not my cup of tea either.
However, your major point is that everything inevitably goes to shit, even once free societies.
My major point is that capitalism as I understand it, takes decades, if not a few hundred years to go to shit, even if imperfectly implemented, whereas collectivist ideologies, including yours, take weeks, maybe months.

This is a pet peeve of mine since the new Star Wars trilogy.
You have several gazillions for special effects and not one or two stinking millions for a decent screenplay?

It’s what happens when one person has all the resources they want for their vision and no one involved in the project who keeps them in check/grounded/so on and so forth.

I thought I made this clear, but I’ll just come out and say it: I don’t care what capitalism is “to you.” I’m talking about what capitalism is.
Oh, except for crises in 1837, 1857, 1873, 1893, 1907, 1919, 1929…
No rebranding necessary. It frequently does that all on its own. Just because you don’t like to acknowledge it doesn’t mean we’re not allowed to talk about it. This is what I’m talking about: you’re constantly trying to narrow the definition and put in all kinds of exceptions.
No, that’s the point which you’re trying to extract from what I’m saying. I’m saying capitalism goes to shit.
It doesn’t matter how you understand it, it matters how it happens in the real world. Oh yeah, that thing. Uncle Mises doesn’t bring it up much, but yeah, it’s important.

There is always a recession in the economy. However if you look at the difference between 1919 and 1929, look how fast the economy recovered. The president in 1919 (actually 21), declared regulations and detaxation. After he deregulated the economy and cut taxes in half, the economy recovered in a few months.
Fast forward to 1929, recession hits, spend more money than the country has spent ever before it lasts ten years.
