I am looking to take a trip with the goal of seeing one thing a truly dark sky. Being from the city I have never experienced this. Are there locations in the US where this would be possible or would you have to go to much more remote areas?

South Florida isn’t bad (keys, etc.), and I’d imagine Hawai’i is smilar.
The advantage to going north, though, is northern lights… northern wisconsin, minnesota, michigan.
