Anyone in the Southern US? Sights to Check Out?

I am planning to head to Gyobutsuji Zen Monastery in Arkansas.

Is there any cool places or things to check out. Doesn’t have to be limited to Arkansas although some people have said I definitely need to check out the natural beauty around there. I guess the landscape in some areas is immense and breath taking!

I would suggest getting to see the Mississippi River. Find a scenic overlook and wrap your brain around the sheer magnitude of this thing. From the headwaters in Minnesota to the Gulf of Mexico, a person in the middle of America could hypothetically get in a boat and end up anywhere in the world.

Check the webpage for “Crater of Diamonds” state park in Murfreesboro, Arkansas. Middle of nowhere, but can dig for diamonds.

Eureka Springs is worth seeing. Not much to do there though.

You can’t go wrong with national parks.

I’ve never heard of the place, but when I googled it, it’s located in a beautiful area of the country.

What sort of sights are you interested in? Cool cities, or just outdoorsy stuff?

If you like eastern religious buildings in the American South you should check out the New Vrindaban Hare Krishna temple in Moundsville, WV.

There’s a very interesting backstory about it with murder and intrigue… that I don’t remember. It’s pretty though.

Quite aways from Arkansas but if you can check out Ginnie Springs, FL. You won’t regret it. It’s paradise.

I can’t say thanks enough! Seems like some awesome info here

Smoky Mountains National Park is cool. Gatlinburg, moonshine, Dollywood, etc.

Yep Gatlinburg is cool. A girl I had been dating for a little over month and I went there one weekend. We went to go skiing and came back married! 11 years later and we’re still going strong!
