Planet Fitness Sucks

because a 20 minute gym commute is brutal?

now that i think about it you got what you deserved. theres fucking signs everywhere and a picture of a stereotypical bodybuilder with a slash going through it set up right in front. i agree that PF members shouldnt post on this site, how can you relate to bodybuilding with 45lb DBs?

If you curl them or do lunges with them. It all depends on what you want to do with them.

I can understand no talking on a mobile phone whilst using a machine, or if you’re in a library, but gyms are not normally quiet places why would someone talking on a mobile phone disturb someone? Unless they are asleep or reading in the gym.

The point is that deadlifting (again, I want to make sure we understand we’re talking about heavy, bumper plate, drop from full extension deadlifting, not romanian deadlifting, etc) is not very common in most gyms. There aren’t a whole heck of a lot of people doing it.

LOL! I think I am the only person who does deads at my gym. Well, there was one other guy, but I haven’t seen him there in months.

20 minutes is far when gas is $4 a gallon, wake up. And there are no signs like the ones you described, have you even been to a pf?

Planet fitness isn’t the type of gym that 90% of us on here wouldn’t be able to work out in; therefore it sucks (for us). Yes.

They are making a shit-ton of money; so they are doing something right.

Mobile phones at the gym, no.

This post; way too long and argumentative.

Now everyone quit flaming and whining.

but you see, PlanetFitness IS a quiet place. you cant lift loud there or else you set off the “lunkhead alarm” ballys is like a giant version of the gym you use when youre at a hotel.

On one hand, Planet Fitness’ policies may be seen as legal, mostly ethical*, and not conventionally discriminatory.

On the other, some of them are just plain stupid it’s not without reason that until recently, Wikipedia described it as “Planet Fatness.”

They have free-pizza mondays, in a “judgement-free zone” no less!!! Bagels are served too, jebus!

“No grunting” is arguably ridiculous on common sense, performance and health grounds. Loose T’s experience is apparently not uncommon- many of the gyms used to have heavy dumbells, squat racks, etc until they suddenly yanked them without notice. Scummy, IMO.

*Ethical from a business perspective, not health

Man you whiny little bitches just don’t stop do you?

How does something “suck” just because you don’t like it? Are you the master of the universe? Thank goodness NOT!

You can’t afford a Ferrari, so do they suck too?

If Planet Fitness sucks so much, then stay the hell out of there. End of your worries. It’s not like they’re coming inside your home and bothering you. No need to keep babbling on and on and on.

Apparently those of you who think it sucks so much spend an immense amount of time and effort trying to convince the world that it sucks. If you really thought it sucked, you’d skip over this whole thread like 90% of T readers.

I don’t own a PF and I would never work out there, but it’s certainly the right place for a lot of people. Let them be happy where they’re at. At least they’re doing something. Next thing you know, you whiny girls are going to bitch about how fat Americans are. Ok, well some of them are doing something about it. They’re joining a gym that they feel comfortable in. Not every one is going to be into bodybuilding. Get over it already.

It is kind of the definition of “suck”.

I like Ferraris, therefore they do not suck.

Zap is right. “Suckiness” is in the eye of the beholder.

sumgai,

Please let me know your objective guidelines to determine whether something sucks.

hahaha…touche.

i went to a PF 1 time. not a fan.

Yeah I just signed up to La fitness today. 25 min ride from my house but gotta suck it up. They seem pretty cool with heavy lifts, dumbells go up to 140 lbs. Haven’t worked out there yet, any reviews?

Fella… does it matter what we think?

Just go do your workout.

Lift heavy, be focussed, keep up the intensity and get it done

Planet Fitness isn’t lame. It’s not a bodybuilders’ gym and you’re a bodybuilder. Duh - go find a bodybuilding gym. End of your issue.

I own a national franchise gym…24 hour fatness. We’re not a bodybuilders’ gym either. We get guys coming in saying we should add DBs up to 150lbs. I’m making money just fine with my 100lb DBs and my members who mostly don’t need anything over 75/80lbs.

Every gym is designed for a specific market. Go find one geared for you and stop whining because there are gyms out there for the every day person.

BTW, I have cancelled memberships for people annoying the shit out of everyone else by talking on their mobile phone. Put that shit away while you’re working out. Some people love going to the gym to get away from that crap. I’m glad that salesman looking guy gave you shit for it.[/quote]

cell phone is gay…definitely right about dl…pussies

Big Planet Fitness billboard that I see every day on the way to work. It reads in Big letters, NO COMMITMENT REQUIRED. I have to say “how very true” every morning.

My gym allows cell phones, its America for god’s sake. I am on call 24 hours a day, as are many types of people, doctors, lawyers, police, firemen, ect… Gotta have the cell with you. But I move to one side if someone is waiting for my spot.

I will say that I am amazed that there are still people who are bothered by cell phone conversations. I know it seemed strange 10 years ago when somebody started talking on a phone next to you in a restaurant, but please, it is here to stay. Just adapt to the new behavior and move on.
