Another Reason to Hate Planet Fitness

They got rid of the squat rack at one location because someone was intimidated by it

They just opened one of these in my area. They are only charging $10 a month, or $20 if you want tanning. My wife was asking me about it and I just started laughing trying to explain the Lunk Alarm. If you are not there to lift why go? I guess for the free doughnuts and pizza…

.

LoL. My buddy is a pretty big dude (250+) and they wouldn’t let him sign-up. He just wanted the membership for cardio…

So much for not “judging” people.

I am not sure why one would hate Planet Fitness over this. It’s pretty obvious what their MO is, and they are upfront about their business. They are not a gym, they are a fitness club, and they cater toward those clients.

I feel as though it’s like getting upset at McDonalds for not having it’s own butcher in every establishment.

I will say though that some people may have no choice but use their establishment. Not every city has a true gym. Its a good business model for certain areas, but could be limiting in others.

Thats some serious fun bags.

I wonder if PF higher ups get on sites like this and laugh their ass off while they count their money.

Probably not as much as they laugh at the people who sign up for a year knowing full well they’re never coming back.

There is always a choice, just not necessarily a convienient one.

I trained in my garage in -30 degree temps because I preferred it over using the gym. I know folks that set up a set of squat stands in their apartment and then take them down whenever they are done. Other folks drive great distances to train.

I guess I don’t equate the presence of a Planet Fitness to equal the absence of a quality training place. I would say the absence of said place is more an indication of a lack of demand.

For myself I have done the same. However not everyone is financially able to do a home garage.

Plus isnt PF a franchise? So they are all not equal in a sense.

I feel as though we will have to agree to disagree.

But yeah, experiences at each pf can vary.

I do not understand the hate for Planet Fitness. It’s a gym that doesn’t have what I want, so I don’t go there. This is similar to why I don’t hate Weight Watchers. It’s a program many have had success with, but it’s not for me. So why would I hate it?

Not everyone wants or needs squat racks, free weight benches. And certainly most of the world doesn’t give a rat’s ass about building muscle. There’s nothing wrong with this.

How does a squat rack intimidate someone?

It’s not a gym it’s planet fitness.

It’s largely elitism, but the meathead/lunk stereotyping spawns some of the hate.

Intimidated by an inanimate object. SMH.
