Thanks, JasonL. 'preciate it! (grin)
I’ve designed a number of diets for people (off-line) and taught them how to use a food log. Some people take to it like a fish to water. Others really struggle and are highly intimidated. And it’s not for a lack of trying.
Maybe it’s the self confidence that comes with age. I don’t mind trying, screwing up, scrapping it and trying again. I don’t mind looking stupid (like when I was trying to figure out how to do a Sumo deadlift for the first time). And I don’t mind asking questions and asking for help. But many is the time in the gym that PTs looked at me with disdain because I was asking about the subtleties of some esoteric exercise I had read about on T-Mag . . . “You got that off the Internet, right?” . . . delivered, of course, with curled lip.
I guess you could say that I’ve been in the same position as NewbieTryingHard. I didn’t ask the question the right way or I asked the wrong person or I asked the right question at the wrong time. Maybe it’s because I’ve suffered my share of smack-downs in life that I like to help where I can. Even if something seems simple to me now, it wasn’t always the case.
