Week 4 of test/deca cycle (1inj a week)
First three glute inj went smooth. 4th inj caused an issue. My friend pinned me on all of these and may have went a bit too high on my glute this time. When he pinned, it hurt and my glute clinched up pretty hard. After that minimal pain at inj site, but a day later my low back is swollen. It feels bruised and is basically a fluid-like lump. I’m now 3 days post pin.
What could cause this? & is it anything I just be worried about? I’ve had PIP before, but it’s usually at the injection site.
Thanks in advance!
Just to be clear inj was IM in my right glute and now almost near my spine I have a lump that feels like a bad bruise. Curious as if anyone has had PIP or a lump away from the site.
Sounds to me like your buddy hit a nerve or something. I have this happen occasionally when you put the needle in and the muscle spasms. I know i’m in for a bad week.
In the case of the injection site it sounds like he was not in the correct area. Can you send a pic? This may be something to have looked at?
Red X is where the knot is and blue x is where he pinned me. It was roughly the same spot we’ve been using. I’ve had shitty pins before, but a knot far away on my low back was concerning.
Thanks for the reply, man!
Yeah that’s weird. Never had that happen. Might just be the swelling is pulling? IDK on this.

This has me thinking of referred pain, but most referred pain that I am familiar with refers further from the spine. And yours is going toward the spine. So, I don’t know.
How does the pain affect your lifting? That is something I would do as soon as I could. My ability to lift would contribute to the decision to seek medical help or not. If the pain and swelling didn’t hinder my lifting, I would assume no harm was done that need further investigation. (I am not saying that is the prudent thing to do. Only that is what I would do.)
Disclaimer: I have a high tolerance for pain, and would try to work past the pain, if I didn’t believe I had injured myself lifting.

Thanks for the reply! It’s not hindering me at all. It feels like a bad bruise, especially on seated exercises, but I can still push it to absolute failure, so I’m naturally inclined to not have a Dr look at it unless it gets worse.
