I like to clarify that I don’t enjoy suffering. That would defeat the purpose for me. I enjoy being big and strong, and enduring/overcoming suffering is a necessary part of it. If I enjoyed it, I wouldn’t get the benefit of it, and would just be a masochist.

I guess so. Thank you. But I also included intelligence and ability to call the right play.

But you said most end up bigger, smaller, or fatter versions of themselves. I disagree. Being fat or thin has to do with a caloric deficit. Nobody works out and becomes fatter unless they are on a caloric surplus.

You did, yes, which would be considered “interesting, not relevant” in a discussion on physiques, which is why I did not address it.

All right makes sense. Thanks.

Joke’s on you, I can’t dunk.

You seem to have very strong opinions, and lots of them, about strength/physique athletes, for someone who isn’t capable of deadlifting 135 lbs.

And on that note, it’s absolutely fascinating that a person who can’t deadlift 135 would have ANYTHING to say on a weightlifting forum.

U MAD BRO

I deadlift literally more than 5 times what you can. I’m a world class strongman competitor. I’m anything but mad. I’m certainly amused though.

Also, I see that your first choice of response didn’t really suit you well. I can see why you’d delete ‘thanks for the roast’ with ‘U MAD BRO’. Much better choice. Had you left us with thank you for the roast, I’m not sure what we would have done. Probably just been mad and stuff. bro.

Brian Shaw is my favorite strongman.

I deleted “thanks for the roast” because I wanted to see what would happen if I posted “U MAD BRO.”

Why do you care about my deadlift anyway? Do your thing and I will do mine.

Lol. Spud Webb is my inspiration, my man!

I don’t care about your deadlift. I don’t think I said at any point that I cared about your deadlift. I think you missed the point.

And the point was, it amuses me that someone who basically doesn’t even lift weights has these very strong opinions about the subject(s) at hand. I also think it’s borderline insane that someone who basically can’t pick up more than 100 lbs off the ground has concerns about ending up with muscles that are too large or puffy. It’s also amusing that you’re concerning yourself with what may or may not be the absolute natural limits for human muscular development. None of that shit matters in the least, given where you are now.

Oh, and Brian Shaw is a hell of an accomplished strongman, to say the least. I hope he can manage to win another Arnold or WSM, but I fear the competition may be too strong and young at this point. But yea, he’s probably my fav as well. I love how much work, and thought, he puts into the sport.

Basketballer-size gymnast, hands down. It’s a win-win. I’m more likely to win, but if I lose, how great would a Shaq-sized floor, pommel horse, or parallel bar routine look?

I just am sad that Brian Shaw may not be able to outperform people like the Mountain. He is aging and most likely won’t be able to be number 1. I hope he makes a comeback next year and becomes number 1 again.

I know bro. I was overthinking things way too much about the puffy muscles. It is my flaw. I just thought if you begin weightlifting in a few years you look like an IFBB pro or something. I was so wrong.

Besides, don’t you think it is normal for inexperienced people to have opinions. Donald Trump, who dodged the draft multiple times, made negative comments regarding John McCain’s service in the Navy. I did something similar.

I am convinced @flipcollar is my Id.

I think I’m ok with that.

It’s normal but that doesn’t make it any less irritating. It’s insulting when people think they’ll be front page material for Flex after a year of training. It’s insulting because it undervalues what many people here have sacrificed to achieve their results. Years, decades of training and we’re still not to that level - probably won’t ever get there naturally.
