Well if someone has superior genetics, they could go over, but is it possible for someone to be below 25, and be on steroids? Jeff is 24, but most here are saying even he is on steroids at 155 lbs.
Yes. Steroids are used for people suffering from muscle wasting disease. It’s medicine.
All right, so Jeff could have poor muscle genetics and he makes up for it with steroids, got it.
That’s a great way to put it man! Its like even my own transformation over the past 2 years. I look like a guy who lifts, but I honestly just look like a “denser/thicker” version of myself. I thought with my numbers that I’m at now with my BW and height I was going to look like this:
But I never will. Even if I add 200lbs to my squats, 100lbs to my OHP, and 200lbs to my C&J I just won’t lol.
But I am just fine looking like a stronger and bigger version of myself. Once I accepted that I stop worrying about what I looked like and just chase numbers in the gym. I figure if I’m strong I’m going to look strong regardless.
EDIT: And I started to not neglect my conditioning!
My advice would be not to worry about what someone else may or not be using and focus on making yourself the best that you can be.
That, or he could have great genetics and poor work ethic, or he could have great work ethic, great genetics and steroids and simply not as much time under the bar to get to absurd levels of muscular development, or he could have all of those things but not want to be bigger than he currently is. You can’t jump to quick conclusions.
I know you’re young, but have you ever even considered thinking before you ask questions? Contrary to what your teachers may tell you, there ARE such things as stupid questions, and this is one of them.
Let’s say a person with a ffmi of 13 decides to start taking steroids. Do you think that, the moment they take that first injection, they balloon to like a 27 ffmi? If you don’t think this, and I hope you don’t, then clearly a person can be well below 25 and be on steroids.
Is it bad that I had to Google what FFMI was an acronym for?
Also, an online calculator for FFMI has me over 25. It seems I’ve exceeded my natural genetic potential or am juicing.
As a teacher, I beg to differ. There are in fact no stupid questions–just stupid students.
(Not referring to anyone in particular here)
Dude …
I know it is possible to be below 25 and be on steroids if they have a shitty work ethic and dick around in the gym. I’m not an idiot. Consider the context behind the question.
Jeff Nippard has worked for 12 YEARS and busted his ass in the gym all this time. That is why I found it strange he could be on gear and be under 25. However, if you saw the thread you would have known that I said it could be possible that he with below average genetics.
Besides T3hPwnisher already pointed out he could try to get results in less time or want to just maintain.
Some people can go over if they have the genetics for it.
Hard to say. I used to be 5’8 132 and I fought Muay Thai, but I sucked at cross country and track at the same size a few years before that. In the same body a few years down the road, I bulked up to 190 and now I do powerlifting. I’d be open to strongman too.
If I were younger and had stayed ontop of some martial arts training, I’d probably still be competing in some combat sport.
Jeff Nippard is 5’2 (they always lie about their height to look taller), genetically gifted, and has great work ethic. It makes sense that his FFMI is what it is. I personally don’t think he’s on gear. I just think there are some genetic outliers, him being one of them.
In powerlifting, I know guys who crush non-tested records and are drug free. Not every strong or jacked person is on steroids. And as I spend more time on these forums, I realize that not every person on steroids is strong or jacked.
At your age, its not important to worry about who’s on steroids and who is, especially when your goal physique is nowhere in that direction. Now’s the time to learn stuff, get strong, and build good habits.
Damn right!
I actually didn’t care before and just assumed he is natural but everybody be like he’s on steroids, so I wanted proof. But I will drop it now.
Just wondering, is focusing primarily on strength (3 - 5 reps) a good idea if I want to be a better basketball player? You know have the strength to jump higher and shoot the ball further? I practice on my shooting and jumping mostly, but I found I had an easier time shooting after I built up my squat a bit. Should I keep doing this?
Did I see an ARX machine in one of the Drago clips?
I think you should focus primarily on basketball if you want to be a better basketball player. I think you should still strength train at 3-5 reps. But shooting and jumping are all skills.
Check out this article I found way back:
"Jumping and other explosive work should be done after the warm-up and before the strength work. When designing your program, look beyond just the sets and reps and exercises. Use this simple training template when preparing athletes:
Speed This includes sprints, jumps, throws – anything explosive
Strength This is any barbell work.
Conditioning Any kind of finisher.
Done in this order, you prioritize the most important areas of athletics when you’re fresh. Don’t turn the speed/explosive work into conditioning, or you’ll sabotage your strength work.
Be sure you get sufficient rest between maximum efforts. It’s always better to do things better, not do things more. Save conditioning work for after the speed and strength work."
Under this kinda template, I’d do your typical practice and then lift after (for on season, maybe just one or two exercises), and have more intensive training sessions in your off-season.
In your off-season, I’d practice you jumps and shit before lifting, with any conditioning of your choice after your lift.
If you feel more confident in your basketball from lifting, then you should definitely keep it up
I don’t care one way or the other and I assumed he was on steroids just from seeing stand alone pictures but when I seen his video with Meadows and also the fact that he’s shorter than Meadows made me think that maybe he is natural… or at least off cycle
Do you also coach your Highschool basketball team?
Do you conjugate with lions or sheep?
I’m sorry what?
Just a running joke on the forums. We had a great thread a while back with a high school basketball player acting like a total douche. It’s a great read if you can find it.
