look like adidas to me. I have strengthshop uk ones #supportingtheuksweightliftingscene.
Much love for strength shop uk, bought some wrist wraps and knee sleeves off them a couple of months ago and they have been doing a great job of keeping my joints feeling healthy through all this ridiculous training I’ve been doing…
Yep, the oly shoes are great, as are their version of fat gripz (when it was down to 20) and their grippers. I’ll probably get knee sleeves at some point but I never really feel I need them (#howdoyoutell) I’ve had wrist wraps from them for awhile now.

MUST TRY AND GET AHEAD OF PHLEGMS UNSTOPPABLE BENCH
They’re just a good idea. Almost every old and beaten up lifter says they should have used sleeves when it would have made a difference.

FINE. I’ll consider some. No promises though. (if they were like 10GBP I would probably go for it but I’m sure rehbands are about 30…). On that note, does it matter if you get super cheap ones? sure ive seen some in poundland.

You can get sleeves on there for £14.99 but all they do is keep your knees warm. Any pair that stay on and retain warmth are fine

January 13th:

A. Conv. Deads:
60kgxsome
100kgxsome
120kgx1
140kgx1
150kgx1
160kgx1
165kgxmiss (Set up all kinds of wrong)
140kgx3
140kgx8 (Relatively easy, much better set up)

B. Smolov Jr. Bench:
7x5 @ 95kg (+2 Pr at this weight)

C. Smolov Backsquats:
7x5 @ 112.5kg (ez money)

Notes:
Stupidly brutal session. Hitting all 3 lifts in one session is hard… Committed to doing a powerlifting meet in about 11 weeks or so, so I needed to get back into the groove of deadlifting regularly again today. Until the miss at 165 my set up was complete crap and the bar was way to far in front of me, as such the lifts I made were harder than they should have been. Fixed it for the last sets at 140 and I tied my old Pr at 140kg of 8 reps but they felt a bunch easier this time. Benching felt good, upped my working max for the day by 5kg again cos I could. Excited to see what I can hit on my 10x3 day for bench this Saturday, I’m hoping for at least 100kg x 10x3.

Smolov bench going insanely well as per. When you nail that 100x10x3 i may cry.

Work on that form for the deadlift man! I find the following 3 things to be of use to me:

-Tugging 1-3 timeson the bar before the actual pull, gradually building up the stress needed to pull slack out of the bar
-Thinking of pulling “backwards” as much as possible
-Thinking of dragging up my legs (start bar from above your mid-foot then move knees forward till shins are touching/very close then try and drag up your legs)

I LUV DEADLIFTING

Thanks for the tips! My main problems are that I’m too used to pulling with an olympic clean form so I end up over the bar too much and fuck up the mechanics. On top of that I’m incredibly quad dominant so I tend to intiate the lift using too much quads and then my weak lower back fails. I got the 165 off the floor, but my mechanics were messed up due to my set up so I couldn’t finish it… As I said, I have 11/12 weeks till the meet so I’ve plenty of time to nail the lifts and get stronger!

Definitely plenty of time. Make sure your not pulling in your oly shoes because that’s asking for trouble unless your doing it is a strange “clean assistance” lift. I personally think pulling barefoot/in sox feels better and stronger then anything else. Make sure your hands only just outside your legs etc.

Sure you know all this but always worth checking!

If I’m deadlifting its always either in my cons or my vibrams. Think I should try going with a slightly narrow stance next time too.

Should be all good then  Yeah, I just use vertical jump sort of width.

15th January:

A. Smolov Jr Bench:
100kgx4 (+3 Pr…)
100kgx2+2
100kgx2
97.5kgx2 (Fuuuu…)

*called it quits, couldn’t settle into the groove. Will de-do tomorrow.

B. Smolov Squats:
10 sets of 3 @ 120kg

C. Pendlay Rows (Strict w/ Straps):
60kgx15
90kgx5 (Pr)
90kgx5
90kgx5
90kgx4

D. Plyo Rope Climbs:
somexsome

Notes:
Stupid training today really. Felt week on everything. Couldn’t set up right with the benching and was lacking any power off the chest. As such I scrapped the benching for today and will re-do it tomorrow if all goes to plan. Squats were harder then they should of been.

16th January:

Am Session:

A. Smolov Jr.:
97.5kgx4
97.5kgx4
95kgx4
92.5kgx4 (x5 sets)

B. Squats:
110kgx9
110kgx9
110kgx5+4
110kgx9

Notes:
Tough benching again. Tried to up todays working weight again but didn’t have the energy to keep it up for the 8 sets so I lowered it back down to the weights I was supposed to hit today. Squats were stupid hard for some reason, I’ll put it down to being sick for the last few days. Will most likely be dropping the smolov back squats as I just don’t have time to be doing double smolov at the minute, its taking far too long to get through with college obligations and all that. Will hit up a quick PM session later to do some of the accessory work I wanted to do this morning but didn’t have time to.

16th January:

PM Session:

A. Snatch Grip Deads:
60kgxsome
100kgx5
100kgx5
130kgx3
140kgx1
145kgx2 (Pr)

B. Glute Ham Raises:
Somexsome

C. Ab Wheels:
3 sets of 10/12

D. Rope and Gymnastic Ring work:
somexsome

Good benching. With the 100kgx4 you just beat my all-time benching PRs. 100kg for 2 CGBP is probably reasonably close (my bench-variation performance). But awesome work… your getting beastly for your weight…

Much appreciated as always!

17th January:

A. Snatches:
Worked up to 65kg over 35 minutes or so. Called it quits early as my shoulder was starting to bother me and I coudln’t get the bar in the catch position properly because of it.

B. Hang Cleans (From above knee):
60kgx3 x2
70kgx3 x2
80kgx1 x2
90kgx1 x3
95kgx1 x2 (Hang PR)
100kgxfailxmany

January 18th:

A. Smolov Jr. Bench:

10 sets of 3 @ 100kg (Volume PR at this weight, dem gainz)

B1: Pendlay Rows:
5x10 @70kg

B2: Front Squats:
60kgx5
80kgx5
100kgx5
110kgx3
115kgx1 (Pr, very ez money)

Notes:
Bench was feeling solid today. Finished the base mesocycle of Smolov Jr. today, it definitely did wonders for my bench in such a short amount of time. Will run another base mesocyle in a couple of days and see where it takes me this time!

Good lifting phlegms. Smolov jr./smolov has done wonders.
