Sounds like a really smart decision, all the best Phillip![/quote]
Thanks for you support and encouragement, mrodock! I have to do this for my health and I would be an idiot to not do it. I do think that it will help my lifting. The low carb diet and weight loss will help increase my natural testosterone production. Due to diabetes and not eating right, it makes it hard to put on lean mass. With my body fat levels I should be competing at 220. I am making great improvements with my fasting blood glucose levels and my blood glucose levels in general. My fasting levels have dropped from 174 on May 17 to 126 this morning. Losing 20lbs of fat might reverse my diabetes. It will at least improve it significantly.

Not my best meet, but not bad considering I lost 10lbs in 12 days and did the meet on short notice (a week). After the meet I enjoyed a nice Memorial Day weekend with my daughter. We went to Galveston and went to a water park and went on a ghost tour of Galveston. We had a really good time.
Maybe not the perfect meet, but it really sounds like you are dramatically improving the quality of your life. With a little time I’m sure you’ll be at your best on the platform as well.

My weight was up 1.5lbs from my refeed/carb load yesterday. The purpose of refeeds are to speed your metabolism up to keep you burning fat by increasing carb consumption. This was my first real re-feed on this diet. In the past I have made the mistake of continuing to cheat on my diet and I am being careful to not make that mistake again. I have been the diet 4 weeks as of today. I am 15lbs away from my goal weight. I started Tabata intervals today to increase my fat burning capabilities. I plan to do these 3 times a week on the days in between I will do steady state cardio.
