So I bought one of these things yesterday because I wanted something to take to the gym and I don’t like headphones or other devices jammed into or on my ears. I basically wanted a boombox that wasn’t a pain in the ass to carry around.

Being as this thing is tiny and loud as hell it fit the bill perfectly. In my rush to acquire it I didn’t take note that it requires mucismatch jukebox to work. There’s no “drag and drop” to the flash memory. Now, this is a problem because they quit making MMJB for macs in like 2002.

So, my question is, how the hell do I get music on it without having to borrow a windows box from one of my friends? This is the only mp3 player I’ve ever wanted, so just getting a different one isn’t an option.

A free bottle of Wild Turkey for the computer geek brave enough to hunker down in the nerdery with a slide rule and figure this out for me.

As a side note, I know any of you Mac nerds out there will sympathize with my desire to blindly use a piece of equipment despite the technical obstacles just because I think it’s cool. Of course, I’m referring to the Shoqbox…

I figure I might have to go home a couple times this summer and borrow dad’s laptop to put songs on it.

Unhandy, but workable. I mean, I only listen to the same couple dozen songs anyway when I workout, so no biggie.

Maybe if you find a relative who has an old laptop with the program you need or something like that, you could download your music from them.

Maybe someone from back home, possibly this summer, or whenever you’re going to see them next?

Okay, if this works do I get a bottle of Wild Turkey?!

If you have a friend with a PC, they can install Shoqbox Buddy freeware and not have to worry about MusicMatch.

If it had Bluetooth that would be handy.

Just because they don’t make it anymore doesn’t mean it’s not available. If you do a search on Amazon for “musicmatch jukebox” you’ll find a Deluxe version that runs with OS9. Even if you have their lates OSX you can still run OS9 apps. Or try getting off Limewire or Bitlord or what have you.

I have musicmatch. I can send it to you as soon as I recieve the bottle of wild turkey… I don’t even like whiskey but hey a deal is a deal =D

I know that it says that you can’t drag and drop but have you actually tryed it? It worked for an mp3 player that I got that said that I needed it but I really hate putting extra crap on my computer.

Well, I used a buddy’s computer to put songs on it, so I guess SWR and 4est are the winners.
