30th Bday:
I’m hoping to go Scuba diving in the Galapagos for my 30th and I’m really looking forward to it even though I will have to get all my equipment for my new body but it could be worse!

Carbs/calories:
I typically consume 30-70g of fiber a day depending on my diet. During the week it’s about 50g on my planned diet. As for total calories it really depends on how much lean mass you have but at 50lb more than me I would say it should be at least 500 cal more than my diet. I’ve found that ~2400 cal for me on a non-workout day is just about right for a slight calorie deficit. Although the last few days between sleeping more, lifting, and eating clean I’ve dropped the 10lbs I gained from a week of eating crap.

Deadlifts/grip:
My body is actually not as sore as it normally is and sleep probably has a lot to do with it. I have also paid quite a bit of extra attention to form lately so I’m using a lot more legs and a lot less back than I used to. I use a double overhand grip also so we are in the same boat there.

I’m going to start doing the 100reps to bigger muscles type routine on my off days so see if I can get some extra forearm/gripwork but since I do everything with my hands I have a loooong history of tendonitis and overuse injuries so we will have to see how it goes. Tomorrow I am going to see about getting some gloves or chalk when I go see about another set of 45lb plates and a power tower so I can finally starting doing pullups/dips.

Ok so today had a planned cheat meal in there but I also did my fasted cardio today and a little more in the afternoon to try and help my energy flux for the day. Unfortunately I forgot about my afternoon dose of HOT-ROX but otherwise I was a pretty good day.

After my workout the other day it became pretty obvious that I need to start doing some hang cleans since my front squat weight is now dependant on how much I can clean. My last workout I ended up power cleaning the last few sets just to get the weight up so I could do the squats. Updating early tonight so hopefully 8 hours of sleep is in my near future!

Those are good deadlift numbers. Not too far off from mine. I was able to do 5x315 yesterday. Felt great unlike Wednesday. I don’t want to claim to be the front squat expert, but I’ve done them 3 times a week for a month now. Do you have an Olympic bench?

Congrats. I’m actually pretty excited that I get to go buy some more 45lb plates. Being able to slap two on each side of the bar for my sets is very encouraging for some reason. More so than a 35 and a 10lb plate. I’m no expert at front squats but I do feel a lot more comfortable with them and I can see a big difference in my legs. I do have a crappy old bench but it’s only rated for like 250lbs(including me on it) so I never use it.

Just reviewing my training log it’s amazing that three weeks ago I was doing deadlift singles at 255lbs and now I’m doing 8x3 at 225lbs and singles nearing 300lbs.

Well better get to things so I can get to bed. looking at another 4-5 hour sleep night if I don’t hurry up!

Not much sleep today and I’ve noticed a pretty strong correlation between lack of sleep and DOMS. I didn’t even lift yesterday and I have DOMS today in my upper/mid back and I’ve had this twinge in my left lower back/hip joint but I’m not sure if it’s a muscle or a joint issue. Need to take more fish oil either way I guess!

WOW Where to start? Well Valentines day was a great weekend and by getting rid of a psycho girlfriend I have so much less stress in my life I’m a much happier man. The only problem is I caught the plague from some friends over the weekend and spent an entire week in bed. Then here we are with commitments at work and studying to be done I’m severely lacking in time for my diet and workouts.

The next few weeks will be more of a don’t backpedal on progress too much than making great strides but thats what it’s got to be. Will probably continue to deadlift and squat twice a week or so since those will provide me a good bang for my buck timewise. Nutrition won’t be as clean but still should be pretty good. It was pretty tasty but the MSG hangover afterwards is a killer.

I’m actually pretty happy with my circuit results since I didn’t wait the amount of time I will be given on the Seals test with any luck I will be able to add a couple reps a week and make the cut in May. Still a long way to go though especially with the pullups.

I also noticed today that if I concentrate really hard on tightening up my right shoulder blade when doing pushups it doesn’t hurt as much or make the scary noises it normally does so I am going to be working on that too.

I can’t believe it’s been four days already. I’ve had a shortage of time lately and it’s shown up in my lack of sleep but I figured tonight I would sit down and catch up a little since I’m not going to get much sleep anyways. So here’s how things have been going:

Today was another eating problem day. For some reason I’ve just had a really hard time eating the volume I used to eat. Today turned out better than yesterday but most of my calories were for breakfast or dinner. I don’t know if I’m coming down with the flu or what but I’ve been really under the weather today. I also have had really bad DOMS in my calves still so no cardio today either. With any luck I can do it tomorrow morning if I can get some sleep.

Was fairly pleased with being able to do pullups but very disappointed with my pushups. I have been doing pushups holding onto 25lb dumbbells(hex kind) so I am farther off the ground because when I do normal pushups after doing them with dumbbells they are a lot easier. Well hopefully I will be feeling better tomorrow.
