Persistent Guy's Training Log Continues

1x9: Zercher squat 119 kg
1x11: Zercher squat 109 kg
3x10: military press 63 kg
1x3, 1x10: lateral raise 8 kg

Started on the lateral raise finisher, some plates hit the ground near the top of the third rep because I apparently didn’t put the collar there properly, so I got to reset. Heh.

I’ve been doing mostly really low rep deadlifts for probably over a decade, and lately even the paused ones are 10 reps total per week (not counting warm-up sets, of course), so I figured I’d do some more mid-rep sets. Let’s try 3x7 and work up to making that 3x8.

Back after Christmas. Feeling less sore and more mobile.

Just for fun, after the squats I tried doing the full Zercher lift - deadlift the bar off the ground, squat down and balance it on the top of my thighs, get my elbows under it, stand up, squat back down, grip the bar the regular way, stand up, put it down again. Didn’t rest between them except to add a couple of 5 kg plates. 89 kilos didn’t feel like a max, but it was starting to get scary.

51st birthday. This is how I look.

I also found some prints of shirtless pics from my late 20s, when I was at least 20 kilos lighter. I should find a scanner…

1x8, 2x7: deadlift 169 kg

Plus some bonus snow-shoveling again this morning.

1x12: Zercher squat 109 kg
3x10: military press 63 kg
1x3 behind the neck press, 5 military press: 49 kg

Trying a different finisher… never had much patience for isolation lifts, I suppose. Behind the neck presses when tired are a lot harder than I thought - I figured I’d get five good ones at least - but if I don’t want to load the bar up with small plates, there’s no quick way to get the weight below 49 kilos (20 kg plates plus approximately 9 kg of bar), so… will try sticking with this and see if I get better, and if I don’t really, well, a tough finisher isn’t a bad thing.
