Permabulk/Food Pron

In the “Professor X: How do you Eat?” (soon to be a wildly successful thread, no dobut), Infinite Shore expressed a desire for a permabulking, food-porn based thread. I thought that was a great idea, but I don’t want to derail. So here it is.

This is not a thread about meal frequency, or macros, or carb timing, or fasting, etc. This is about food you like, preferably food that would fall into your “cheat” category.

I’ll start:

Favorite Homemade Cheat:

This varies a lot. It used to be tacos for a while, but lately it’s been stew - partly because it’s easy to make, partly because it’s delicious. I have a crock pot at home, but you could just use a pot/stove if need be.

Ingredients:

1 lb Stew Beef
1 Shank steak, or other bone-in cut (dat marrow)
4-5 cups Beef Broth
1 cup water
2 cup diced turnips
2 cups cubed potatoes
1 cup chopped cauliflower
1 cup shredded cabbage
1 cup chopped carrots
2-3 garlic cloves
2 tsp oil
6 tbs butter
1/2 cup flour
Salt (I use about 1-1.5 tbsp salt)
Pepper (to taste)
Thyme
Oregano

Directions: Heat the garlic in the oil and 2 tbsp butter in a pan for a couple minutes. Brown the beef/steak and put all into the pot. Use the water to de-glaze, and pour into pot. Fill with broth. Allow beef to become tender and remove bone/skim fat (usually 6-8 hours in the crock pot for me).

Add in everything but flour and butter. Cook until vegetables are soft (anywhere from 2-3 hours in the crock pot). Make a a rue with the remaining butter and flour and stir that shit in there. You can use less butter/flour, but your stew will be more watery.

I usually put mine on top of egg noodles and serve with bread & butter. I also usually buy organic stew beef because it’s only like $2 more where I shop and has way less fat (I’ve already got a lot of fat in there from the marrow, butter, etc.). You could paleo-tize by removing the flour and butter and serving over potatoes or whatever. Shout out to Jamie Lewis, the insane, mutant, trap-monster, powerlifting midget for kindling my interest in stew.

Favorite Dine-Out Cheat:

Again, varies a lot. Lately it’s been 2 lbs wings + loaded fries (chees and bacon)+ Black IPA or a local Oktoberfest I’ve been enjoying. Boring, yes, but delicious.

I guess this thread might not belong in BSL. But I guarantee these meals will make you at least “bigger,” and I know all you mother truckers cheat at least once in a while, so please share so we can all have a get-along thread.

In what universe is that a cheat meal?

Ok, the bread and butter… but the rest of it looks like a great meal to me, unless you’re dieting hard.

not to pile on the OP but how can it be any kind of pron thread without pics ?

Yeah, was disappointed that nobody worked with me in that thread. Here is what I eat rather frequently after training.

Self-made cheese burger - some with meat balls and some with chicken. Good shit and takes me only 15 min to make.

Now if I would actually decide to “cheat”, I would drink 1L of milk with it and have some ice-cream afterwards.

My pants just got tight. I’m now having that for dinner tonight.

Excellent example of hardcore food porn

Satisfied?

It’s the most “healthy” cheat meal I had recently. I don’t really like junk food, with the exception of the occassional meal out. I meant cheat in the sense that you throw all macro, calorie, etc concerns out the window.
