I’m pretty sure that the Valsalva manoeuvre is going to be another pelvic floor buster - ever since I read Rip’s book SS I’ve been using it, was discussing it a few weeks ago in gym with trainer teaching a friend to squat using alternative in/out breath method.
Taking my codeine, may tonights sleep be better than yesterdays.

Biofeedback doesn’t work on guys. Trust me on this one.
BIA - how long did yr intense pain last? I’ve done my second day of mobility stretches and within twenty minutes had terrible pain, currently experiencing worst so far. Guess I may have stretched too far, but did not seem to be anymore than I did yesterday.

Pain lasted for about 4-5 years as I never figured out the cause. Since mobility work is causing you pain, I would lessen it or cut it out completely and work it in slowly.
4-5 years! Woah. What kind of pain meds were you taking to get by - work and live?

None. They tried things like Cymbalta and other similiar medications like Lyrica. None did anything. They recommended I go to a more experienced pain clinic but I didn’t want to. I wanted to figure out what the problem was and how to treat it. I just learned to live with the pain during that time. Now, I’m only in pain from overuse. As long as I keep mobile, I’m a-okay.
Thats a LONG time to have this kinda pain, the pain I’m experiencing now is debilitating, slept some 3hrs last night, 3hrs on Sat and same Fri I think. You are a true stoic.
Going to up pain meds by prescription from dr as I really can’t do anything at present.
I’m thinking that maybe the a-bike seat has damaged by p nerve. Still waiting on radiologists report on lower spine. I’m trying to relax but pain is making me tense up. Catch 22.
My mri for lumbar spine came back as normal. Pain so bad thinking of calling ambulance at present, guess need pelvis/sacrum mri
Hang in there Chockers! Try searching for male pelvic health EXPERTS in your area (non-surgical ones). It would be worth going to see them as soon as you can.
MRI on pelvis would be useful. I’m surprised they didn’t capture that on the previous MRI though.
This is truly toughest experience of my life so far - destroying my sleep. Like doing a night shift with an electric cattle prod between my legs. I’ll look for an expert in the region.
I asked for MRI of whole region but my dr had requested only lumbar sadly. I think because I explained about some recent deadlifting with poor form - not poor enough to do my spine evidently.
I’m seeing an osteo this afternoon and spoke with head of leading physical therapy clinic in London who said probably p nerve neuralgia.
Feet/Calves cold and pins and needly and wedding ring finger keeps flicking involuntarily - putting down to nerve referal and anxiety.
May arrange to see private urologist as well as can’t wait till late Dec.
I’d be happy to do nothing but Movnat/parkour when I get through this.
BIA you are keeping me sane - ty again for your support man.
My private drs nurse called advising not to see osteo - they do more harm than good she said.
Can’t see how can make problem any worse at present.
No problem at all. I think this issue receives very little attention from doctors. The more help you get, the better ![]()
It very well could be pudenal neuropathy, but the reason I don’t believe the compression is long term is because you haven’t been riding a bike recently (just lifting). While you could have some compression, I would have imagined it would have occured when you were an avid rider. Compression caused by muscular tightness would be my guess with what is going on.
Let us know how it goes with the osteo. If he starts talking surgery, be wary. Explore all options EXTENSIVELY before considering anything. Definitely let him know about the cold and pin feeling you’re experiencing. I never heard of PN causing sensations in the hands.
Again, hang in there!
I did ride the sinclair a-bike for about an hour in total prior to the pain starting at the back of my testicles and left side of penis. It is the most painful and unpleasant bike every made, don’t ask me why I got it. That was on Fri 5th to Sun 7th Nov. The seat is evil, presses directly into whole perineum.
I’m not usually so stupid.
It was 9 days later that the major perineum pain kicked in though, not immediately.
BIA osteo thought it was perineum spasm - which may have caused damage which needs to be looked at by urologist. He said he wasnt an expert but checked me out and felt that it wasnt p nerve compression/entrapment.
But nerve straight down middle was ultra sensitive. He did some acupuncture on my feet, hands and legs for 15 mins which warmed up the perineum area and generated a lot of warm buzzy sensations.
Felt much better for an hour, now back to where I was before, which isnt unexpected - his advice was breath deep relaxed, dont sit down - which is impossible as I have to return to work somehow and do very gentle mobility as you suggested. Will go again. Acunpuncture was quite amazing experience
He said that bike riding from an early age, which I did - I was rarely off my bike from the age of 5, deforms the pelvis and musculature. I think my low rep lifts/squats were what finished me off.
Friend suggested 2 p nerve drugs - gabapentin and pregaba or something like that, not a fan of taking any type of drug but may have to.
Want to get mri of pelvis/sacrum.
Have to rebuild my life with much less physical and emotional stress. First part is straightfwd, second less so.
Next step is male pelvic expert.
The cold hands/calves/face and finger spasm he felt were anxiety, I got so cramped up with pain, which I’m trying to cope again with that the body freezes up and spases out. Horrible.
Cool thing about the osteo - he’s the acupuncturist for two of the french yamakasi who were there at the beginning of the parkour movement.
Amy Stein book arrived, will gut that for any useful ‘male’ anatomy info.
Looked up the two drugs - gabapentin and pregaba, loads of not uncommon unpleasant side effects.
Give your body time to recover.
