@freshyfresh Thanks brother, it really is bothering me more than it should. Maybe that’s just because a lot of stuff is adding up atm and my general well being is a bit attacked.
Speaking of which: I have a cold right now. I am not terribly sick but will take a few days off and will have to wait this out. Doesn’t fit my plans with the weightlifting competition but can’t avoid getting sick forever.
Do you have any option to store the equipment and train the strongman stuff at yours or a friends home. You could do all the basic strength work in a commercial gym and then run a strongman Saturday session with your friends.
Well I can store some stuff in the basement and patio but have no real space to use it (except for static events). I booked a test training session at the crossfit box and already asked in advance how they feel about ne bringing my strongman toys. I am awaiting an answer on that, as they have to discuss it.
Next best thing will be your suggestion.
Barely to be honest. At least not if I wanted to keep the weightlifting. You hsve no idea how bad commercial gyms are here. They have improved a ton over the last decade and still suck for these kind of purposes. It’s mainly the bars
Hopefully the are cool with strongman toys. They show up so much in crossfit, you’d think as long as others could use it they’d be cool?
You are correct here, as I have never been to a gym in Germany. I know in the UK when I left 20 years ago thee was very little choice when it came to gyms and almost zero had Olympic, powerlifting or strongman facilities.
We are very spoiled down here in Australia as there are lots and lots of gyms and most have options for olympic / power lifting. Strongman is a little harder to find but still options if you are willing to drive a little.

Sorry to hear that man, it sucks to have to leave such an important place for you. I’m sure you’ll find ways to train, and ways to rebuild a community but it sucks that you have to.
The UK has changed drastically since i first started training 2 decades ago. I’ve been to a lot of commercial gyms in that time and its almost unheard of to find a gym without squat racks, platforms and bumper plates. More specialised stuff is rarer, but not too difficult to find. To my knowledge, i have at least 3 gyms just in my small city that have strongman logs, for example.
Yer I see this from afar too, my dad trains in a fitness first gym which is deff not a powerlifting or olympic lifting gym, but it does have a couple of squat racks and a couple of platforms so you could get the job done there.
I was in Germany a couple years ago and dropped into a commercial gym. It was… not great. the bars were stiff, no knurling and almost certainly underweight
Things have improved a LOT. Pure gym is everywhere. They have lots of platforms, barbells, plates, and other equipment. 24hr access and flexible passes
I am hoping for it! They actually have a yoke for some reason but nothing else. I definitely offered to share.

I told Wayne already, I recently found out how to cheat the Rewe and am now stealing Salmon when it’s on sale (at this one Rewe, when you scan the additional ‘on sale because it is close to best before date’ sticker, it only scans the saving, not the price). So you know… halfway there and yes, I am doing as fabulously as ever xD

Had my test training at the crossfit box. The facility is huge and caters well to weightlifting. The weight you can put on the bar is limited due to the bumper size. Dumbbells only up to 30 kg but some good perks. We will see if this an option. It’s pretty far out though.
