Thank you folks! I appreciate your support and feedback.
Also I just said fuck it and signed up for the next one.
So now the last sprint of the season looks like:
07.09. - league final
28.09. - small invitational competition (3rd time doing this one)
03.10. - my gym’s olympic weightlifting meet (just for fun)
You should get a prize for the Tnation member who competes the most. Great t see you getting after it mate. Competing and enjoying this as a sport makes all the hard work worth it. Quality
I take any trophy I can get, haha! This year is without any major work/ academic events (did my state’s exame lsst year, doing my thesis next semester) so I said out to compete as much I can this season. If we are counting the weightlifting one, that will be 6 competitions for this year. Unless something comes up for the end of the year.
There’s a Youtuber i occassionally watch who’s massive on this point, to the extent that they have a whole wall full of participation medals hanging on the wall behind them. Participation trophies might be stupid, but surrounding yourself with likeminded people to do the sport you enjoy regularly is pretty awesome.
That bag looked awkward as FK, it looked like it didn’t have enough sand in it and was folding over as you tried to lap it. You did well to even move with that thing.
Yeah that things was really shitty tbh… It also just kept sliding down my legs, so I couldn’t really lap it to position my arms…
That said. if I was just stronger, I would have been able to just brute force that thing into position. So that’s what I will focus on!
Fuck me. Fatigue and soreness reaching new heights here. Looking forward to a relaxing weekend.
objectively I have rarely worked harder than this year I think. Yet I have worked way harder subjectively before.
I am pretty proud of my work capacity and my body’s capabilty atm. All these comps, hard training, the Sweden adventure and lots of daily activity - not too bad of a ‘functional shape’.
Damn high step count these last few days. Yesterday was Christopher Street day in my town. Today was significantly slower and the crowning end to the weekend was a visit to the spa tonight. That should hopefully enable me to attack the new (training) week with full force!
1 viking press (weight in hands)
6 @ 43 kg
6 @ 63 kg
5 @ 83 kg
5 @ 94 kg
3 @ 106 kg
3 @ 118 kg
5 @ 120 kg - PR
3 x 6 @ 104 kg
2 paused btn split jerk
3 x 2 @ 127,5 kg
3 lat pull down
4 x 12 @ s14
4 db hammer curls (back agains post)
3 x 12 @ 15 kg
Notes:
The last time I trained viking press on this setup, I had no idea how to calculate the weight. The heaviest I went up to in retrospect was 98 kg for easy 5’s and in vomp I did 90 kg for 15 reps and the event win. So seems like I have gotten stronger, I think.
1 weight for height
2 x 2 @ 20 kg dead stop throws
8 x 2 @ 20 kg
Well at least I came. There was one throw that might have actually passed but I don’t have that one on camera…
2 car deadlift simulation (weight in hands)
2 @ 114 kg (4 reds)
2 @ 148 kg (6 reds)
2 @ 183 kg (8 reds)
2 @ 218 kg (10 reds)
0 @ 252 kg (12 reds)
0 @ 246 kg (10 reds, 2 20’s)
0 @ 242 kg
1 @ 239 kg - death grinder even though this was relatively easy last week and I had way more planned today.
3 @ 218 kg
3 reverse band trap bar deadlift
5 @ 184 kg - black band (height 40)
5 @ 224kg - black band
1 @ 244 kg - black band
1 @ 264 - black band
Fatigue has reached a tipping point here. Should have added an qdditional rest day. My last chance is taking Friday significantly lighter than planned and have a final good session for deadlifts next week.
Developing some serious doubts over here. Also just in a very shitty mood and having some tough times.
yeah don’t ask me what I did here today. Got too emotional and decisiond weren’t rational
I don’t really feel like sharing videos today.
this was the worst and stupidest training session in a long time.
Officially pulled out of the next comp. There are lines between being tough, being stupid and being a baby. Truly not sure where I stand right now
Experimenting with movements for my next bit of programming.
1 back squat jumps from high box
3 x 5 @ 30 kg
2 btn push press
Up to
3 @ 100 kg
1 @ 110 kg
1 @ 120 kg
1 @ 125 kg
1 @ 130 kg - PR
3 ssb box squats in flats
5 @ 100 kg
5 @ 120 kg
Started getting bad cramps after this set, so I switched to singles but kept it very reasonable.
1 @ 140 kg
1 @ 160 kg
1 @ 170 kg
3 x 3 @ 140 kg
Then had to take a break to work on a friend’s neck. Continued after:
4 clean (like full olympic and shit)
5 x 1 @ 100 kg - PR, lol.
Huiiii I am speed! I am lightning!
Haven’t done any kind of squats or direct leg work in a couple of months now. I think this movement specifically has the potential to help out with my upper back weakness (stone, sandbags). I’d estimate around 185-190 kg would be a max with this movement right now.
I felt athletic as shit with the cleans. Nah but for only doing them the second time this year and not doing stuff like that much in general, I was kinda proud at how they went today.
Stressful/ emotional day today. Fuck me I am beat this week. Physically and mentally.
Funny how things work sometimes…feeling like shit, setting PRs, etc. Probably good to pull out of the comp if it isn’t doing your mental state any good.
I honestly thought “I am doing a real Cyrrex here”, when I hit that PR, haha!
Normally your speciality, mate!
But yeah despite that random PR, I think I actually made the right decision. The more time passes, the better it feels. Also I will still do a small friendly comp at the end of September, so that’s something to look forward to.
