Went all the way to Hannover today for my atlas stone training. It was an ordeal but well worth it.

Also I just heard from another athlete, who commented on my instagram post, that there will be no tacky allowed at all for the stone. Also it will be done in a sand pit for some reason. Now that makes me seriously angry because the invitation didn’t specify anything about tacky (which it usually would if tacky was restricted to say spray tacky). No, instead the host (not Heinz, the organizer) whom I very much dislike anyway (a famous German strongman) apparently said that tacky stuff in an instagram story video of his. Which I didn’t watch because I don’t like him.
So this information was only available to those who did watch the video. I contacted Heinz to ask him about this.
I am seriously thinking about pulling the plug on this show right now. I invested a good deal into it and therefore it would be kinda sad. On the other hand, I’m not gonna drive 5 hours (one trip) to potentially fail multiple events on top of that shitty communication. Given how today went, I don’t think I could shoulder a 110 stone without any tacky…
if it had a small diameter maybe but if it was a giant one like the 115 kg red marble, there is no chance at all.
I’m all for keeping strongman weird and whatnot but this is just shitty. I would need to spend a lot of time and money to make it to the show and am already sacrificing stuff for the prep. All the weights are right up their and push me to even get a rep on the board, so I really can’t account for stuff like this.
Sorry to hear that about the comp. Sucks when organisers are shite at effective communication. Shouldering a 115kg stone with no tacky is going to be tough as hell for anyone. Good chance if they run it this way a whole load of athletes will zero. I don’t see the point of that.
Me neither. But we’ll see. I contacted Heinz and he’ll get things cleared out. I told him if I don’t have a clear answer, there’s no point in me driving down there. Not sure if he gives a shit but I’m not waiting to find out on the day. At this point in my life I’d rather be considered a coward, which could be seen as a legitimate argument. My priorities have just shifted.
Also I cooked a breakfast brunch for someone and am so proud of my effort that I’m gonna share pictures of it on a strength sports website

Lots of stressors right now. Had some dates, some exams, work, prep… Not all negative obv. but it’s crazy. Among other stuff we have water damage and the entire floor of our bathroom has already been ripped out. Will probably need a complete remodel. Decision on that will be made by the landlords on Monday. Depending on that I might need to move out for a while or something. Not like that’s easy where I live, haha.
I STILL have some DOMS just won’t subside which is weird at this point.
Warm up felt okay besides some niggles but power wasn’t there. So I decided to interrupt this and start over tomorrow, hopefully better refreshed.

Did some squats without equipment today to create videos for an uni project I’m doing. Let’s call it active recovery?
About 5 high bar singles and 2 lowbar @ 140 kg and a few squats @ 100 kg. Shouldn’t impede recovery, felt nice. Although hammies let me know this was not on the plan.

I’m struggling right now with the upcoming competition.
Reasons:
Thoughts: This competition feels like a chore and a lot of pressure right now. I don’t really feel any positive excitement and I’m not even nervous about my performance. I feel like this is something I have to do, have to prove of sorts.
Contras:
If I pull out three days prior I’ll be considered a major dick and for good reasons. Especially after all the fuzz with the tacky and all.
I might rediscover my love for strongman competitions
this might be nerves speaking for me.
I kinda made my decision and am usually someone that sticks by that.
maybe I am all in my head. And maybe this is something that I have to prove to myself.
