I dunno how you manage it, mate, I am worthless if I get as little as 7 hours of sleep.
I always thought old people needed less sleep. Seriously though who the heck gets 7 hrs sleep every night ?
I do. I have always needed to sleep more than other people, so I make it a priority. I average somewhere between 7:50 and 8 hours of sleep, and that is excluding the times where I wake up during the night for a wizz or am just tossing and turning. I am positively boring.
Helps my recovery, I probably couldn’t train 6 to 7 days a week otherwise.
It’s not an old ppl thing. I’m useless without “8”
If I don’t get enough sleep, I feel like I’m not in control of my body. I’ll start doing something seemingly automatically, then my brain registers it. There have been times where I start doing something not too smart and as I’m doing it, my brain starts rattling of the relevant biases causing me to do it (ie hot cold empathy gap, temporal discounting…) but I do it anyways

It’s a skill born out of necessaty. Plus, I am well above average when it comes to not letting others see how wrecked I am. So I can power through and people wouldn’t have any idea most of the time.
When I had to quit one of my old jobs due to bad health, my final resume praised my stress resilience as an outstanding skill. It literally said it seemed like no matter how hectic things got, I seemed unshakeable and like I would never lose my cool. That was while I had serious panic attacks and wouldn’t actually see my surroundings clearly because they were reduced to a blur.
At this stage (after a - in relation to my insomnia episodes - short spur of sleep deprivation) I mainly struggle with my memory and voice control (I mumble more if I don’t concentrate actively and I sometimes mess up volume control). I am very controlled with my temper, so I’m aware not to let my struggles out on other people.
I tend to start slurring, and in extreme cases my vision and balance start going, although that might be a side effect of the accompanying caffeine dosage.
That is amazing. I’m short tempered as it is, but lack of sleep => all control gone.
There was one time on a class camping trip where some ppl were staying up late and had their lamps on. I couldn’t sleep so I yelled for ppl to turn the light off. Apparently i was sufficiently loud/scary that one of the teachers who had his lamp on quickly turned it off instead of telling me to stop yelling
I realize that this comes easier for some people than others but I still think anyone can train themselves to a degree to achieve control over their tempers.

I was about to say - this was very easy. You had another 3 reps at least even on the lat set.
They are cool. My go to strong man pressing event now days.
