Per aspera ad astra (strongman Koestrizer)

That would be a good idea, thanks. Especially if I worry about numbers beforehand. Although in that case, I was taken aback that day by how heavy they felt.
Lets see what Paul has to say about squats. I usually get my new week, adjustments and such on Sunday or Saturday sometimes. I actually really like that btw. and always look forward to getting my new program. I would obsess about it way too much if I had more at hand than one week at a time.

Also I half jokingly asked about being allowed to add wraps in again. That makes squats feel SO much better for - form wise. Wraps themself feel terrible. I know he’s not a fan of equipment tho.

This week’s program has me repeat last weeks squats but I am allowed to add wraps in. Paul said he knows I prefer wrapped squats and is fine with it, now that we are approaching heavier weights.
I hope I can get a hold of them until then because I don’t have them with me, someone needs to fetch them from the cheese factory and my parents then need to mail them.

My gym is gone. A bunch more snow is expected and we have an official blizzard warning. I need to find a snow shovel. Good thing today is rest day, haha.

I see you’ll be doing conditioning work for once :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes::stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Lets not get carried away. I need 2,30m x 1m to deadlift with my deadlift bar, hehe,

So this guy showed up and has taken over my “gym”.
He keeps demanding I “bring him Solo and the Wookie”.

Any recommendations, guys?

Ask yourself what would Rocky Balboa do in you situation.

I don’t have permanent access to cow halfes. Is sparring with ground beef fine?

Yeah definitely eye of the tiger on repeat, should I somehow make this happen.

08.02.

Retreat to the catacombs. I don’t like it but my flatmate was about to declare me insane and he was kinda right. There was nothing I could do against the snow masses. Whole city is snowed in. We haven’t had snow and blizzards like this in a long time.
Slept wrong, so hip and back were a little angry. No issues for the actual workout.

1 sots press (no space for oh squats)
3 x 5 @ 30 kg

2 log lift (clean once)
3 x 5 @ 101 kg - PR!

3 bent over row
4 x 10 @ 105 kg

4 vertical jumps
5 x 3

5 hollow holds
4 x 30 sec

Notes:

  • really glad that I still have a spot to press the log. Not the safest one, so detail orientation is key! The floor is tilted to the front, so I have to fight myself to not go onto my toes too soon. Well and there isn’t a lot of space to take a step backwards obv. There is nothing to complain about. I can still train hard. I have done so all winter outside, so this will be a piece of cake!
  • The spaces are even more confined than they appear on video, so some exercises need to be swapped out. No big deal. Can deadlift, log lift and even squat. Although the bar has to go through a door, haha.
  • came close to skipping this session. Like really close. But I am disallowed from any negativity in relation to a PR, haha. Paul gave me a little pep talk on that. Made a lot of sense. At the end of the day, I am glad I didn’t skip this and I acknowledge the progress and today’s 3 PRs!

Still getting the work in man, love it.

PRs are PRs man. Be proud of them.

Thanks buddy.
I’m trying to get better at this “be your own cheerleader” thing that @Voxel and @T3hPwnisher are talking about. I’m still at a stage where I’m faking it but with repetition I hope to ingrain some thought patterns.
The maybe most benign account of this is the angle I have been filming my deadlifts from for the past couple of months. Diagonally from the front might not be the best data but I like how my deadlifts look from that angle so I choose it over a direct side view because that one produces doubt and negative thoughts. Which are unwarranted. It’s the little things.

I’m terrible at it myself mate. I’m getting there though. I’m finding 2 things helpful:

  1. a lot of my previous negativity was in the form of obvious jokes because it’s obviously a joke, it has no effect, right? Well maybe it doesn’t, but maybe it does and if it does, better make it a positive effect.

  2. I deliberately do things that I can be proud of and approach them with that mindset: that I’m going to make myself proud. Probably makes me do stupid things, programming wise, but worth it for the pay off.

Yeah humor is a good strategy to mask those things. I laugh a lot less than I type “haha”.

It is a fine line for sure. I have been jumping hoops with going into either extreme when I programmed for myself.

I don’t program them, I just go off program when needed.

I do want to highlight the accuracy of saying one is terrible at saying positive things about themselves. Great proof of concept.

“A lot of truth is said in jest” is also a very profound and accurate quote.

I was aware of the irony as I was typing it.
