Per aspera ad astra (strongman Koestrizer)

Went on a walk.
20 minutes stationary bike
Hot epsom salt bath.

I still coach a little on the side (for free) and my 18 or 19 year old female client just hit a 57,5 kg bench, 100 kg squat and 130 kg deadlift. For a 12,5 kg, a 37,5 kg and a fucking 50 kg PR respectively. All very clean and with more in the tank on the bench and deadlift. This was without a peak.

Crazy passionate and talented girl. She was so excited she cried. Her message really made my night.

This is probably one of the most “German” dishes there is. Still there is a different name for it in every part of the country and how to prepare it is also largely dependant on where you are. We here call it Braunkohl & Bregenwurst (best translation I can offer is “brown cabbage/ kale and brain sausage”). Funny thing is that there are parts of the country where that name isn’t even understood. @dicksharpe how do you call it?

I’d be on board- as long as there’s actual brain in the sausage :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes::stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

There used to! But I think nowadays it doesn’t contain brain anymore. Probably depends on the butcher, so I can’t give you a definitive answer, haha.

I am really happy with that progress! She doesn’t really trust herself enough yet and she came to me after she got hurt lifting, so it’s understandable. We tweaked her technique and I am happy to see that she stuck to it. I really think she has some amazing potential.

My favourite is the sausages with liver. Those Bavarian white sausages are amazing too

Oh yeah Weißwurst is some great stuff. When you say with liver do you mean the kind of sausage you use as a spread (Leberwurst/ liver sausage).

We have a lot of types of sausage you don’t want to think about twice. I do enjoy some good blood sausage for example. And yes it is made that way.

Yep! I had it for breakfast everyday when I was visiting Germany. Much better than Pate imo

Those are good too, but we already have that in China and I prefer the Chinese ones

We call it “Grünkohl mit Pinkel”. Half my family’s from Bremen, I think that’s what people call it up there. As a kid, I thought that name was the height of hilarity. Good stuff!

Ah yeah Pinkel really is a hilarious one!

21.12.

1 oh squat
3 x 5 @ 55 kg

2 sots press
Worked up to 2 x 1 @ 60 kg. Wasn’t hard but a lot of fun. Shoulder felt perfect today.

3 deadlift
3 x 5 @ 180 kg

4 box jumps
5 x 3

5 one arm db press
2 x 8 @ 29 kg
2 x 8 @ 25 kg

27,5 programmed but I didn’t have that, so decided on two sets over and two under.

6 shrugs (deadlift grip)
3 x 15 @ 105 kg

Notes:

  • sots press were not programmed. I was just goofing around.
  • deadlifts: I think this is a total volume PR. Furthermore I have never moved this weight for so many reps this easy! Fucking great stuff. Concentrated on lifting more upright and pushing with my legs. I think that was good.
  • super succesful session but I forgot abs. Will do that at home

Dude, that is a crazy looking press variation. I am for sure not flexible enough for that.

It’s one of those crazy magician things from the wizarding world of weightlifting.
But yeah in all fairness, a lot more flexibility than strength involved. Klokov did it with 110 kg once, lol.

Lol story of my life. “I’ll go down to the garage in a few hours to finish the thing I hate doing.” Avoids the garage for 16 hours

I once did a Sots with a 9kg kettlebell once and was in pain for weeks/months. Does that count as “achievement unlocked”?

@heretolog yeah, story of both our lifes.

@dagill2 what exactly did you hurt? Shoulder? Well I guess we can give you a green light on that one.

Yeah, did a number on my shoulder. I was pretty suprised because they’re usually pretty indestructible

Ouchie! Sounds like a freak accident with that weight. But yeah, it would be reason enough for me to stay away from that stuff
