Part 1: Training

Was in Hildesheim for my docotor’s appointment (results in second post).

Ceased the opportunity while I was in Hildesheim and met a girl I graduated from school with for coffee. We haven’t seen each other since then and recently reconnected via Instagram. Pretty funny.

Also checked out a gym that has recently been refurnished. I was there once a few years ago and was curious to see how the place turned out. It’s a super high class (pricey) place.

Felt super weak and anxious going in and about everything felt off. Had no energy.

1 squat
Up to
1 @ 140 kg (belt from here)
1 @ 160 kg (wraps from here)
2 @ 180 kg - should have been three but no chance
1 @ 180 kg - weight hit my knee wrap roller (solid idiot moment here). Otherwise could have been another double
5 @ 137,5 kg naked knee
2 x 7 @ 137,5 kg (very light wraps instead of sleeves)

2 Farmer’s Walk
Don’t know weight of handles. Counted them as 20 kg
10m @ 100 kg
10m @ 120 kg
Wanted to do another set but as soon as I lifted it off the ground my vision went black. Gave it two attempts and decided it’s not worth pushing.

3 behind the back barbell hold (No chalk)
30 sec @ 120 kg
28 sec @ 120 kg

Notes:

  • I don’t know if it was just a flattering angle but depth and back position looked pretty good, no (in the first where I didn’t hit the thing)?
  • didn’t like the gym. The equipment was pretty good, lots of racks, good bars and even a sled + farmer’s walk … But I had the same problem that you described @t3hpwnisher: the area was way to open a space! It felt so wide and unpersonal… I felt uncomfortable for some reason and started missing the confined space of the upstairs room of my cheese factory.
  • potentioally did a little harm to my SI joint area when I had this weird blackout thing on Farmer’s (lost all brace). We’ll see tomorrow.
  • looks like a bad session but you what? I am going to go ahead and call it a ein anyway because of how I felt going in and about the gym and all.

Part 2: The docotor’s appointment

Went to discuss the blood test results regarding my hormon levels.
I made peace with the result that all of my hormon levels are in range beforehand. I actually typed out the tnation log entry for that scenario while sitting in the waiting room.

It turned out differently. The doc said that my hormon levels aren’t what they are supposed to be and that my testosteron is too low. He is a man of very little words which is kind of annoying for someone that likes to gather information.

He said he’ll prescribe me something and asked if I preffered gel or injection. I answered injection but he eventually decided on gel because it supposedly doesn’t interfere as much with my body’s natural testosteron production.

He didn’t gave me a lot of info but provided me with my test results and stated that in his opinion a hormon level discrepancy can be the cause of severe clinical depression.

I asked what kind of side effects and effects I have to expect. He answered “None. Everything is probably gonna get a lot better”.

I don’t really dare to hope that this could be the solution. Mainly because I am not used to good things that happen to me.
I kinda feel like I have been wandering through the desert for 100 years and now suddenly found an old wise man who provides me with the holy grale that I have been looking for my whole life. Maybe it’s just a fata morgana?

Anyway I got prescribed 30 doses of this gel and am scheduled for another blood test to see if it works.

Man, I totally get that you’re trying to keep your own expectations in check, but I hope this is going to make a real difference for you!

Hooray?

As I don’t want to affect you with my own biases, I’d recommend studying up on gel usage (be mindful of how long it takes for it to go into your skin so you can plan showers accordingly). Depending on where on your body the gel is applied physical contact with other people (hugging) can be a problem. Clean your hands well, so you don’t spread gel through handshakes or petting an animal.

And related, find our what kind of injection frequency would be available to you if you decide to change treatment option later on.

@dicksharpe I hope so too! Or as my mom said tonight “If one deserves a win like that, it’s you. You really had an awful lot of bad luck in life.”

I’d say so for now! I mean this could be something, right?

Btw. I forgot to mention you above but wanted to say a big, warm thank you. Mainly because of you and a friend who is not in tnation I even pushed further down this road.

I take it you get injections? Might I ask what your free test level was when the decision was made?
I’ll do my homework, thanks
The pharmacist said to wait a few minutes before getting dressed and wash my hands after a few minutes. Doc instructed me to apply the gel on my shoulders.

Good point for the follow up.

This is potentially the best news. Awesome.

Squats looked good too.

Thanks big guy

It’ll take a while to dial in. But yes!

Not necessary, but thank you. I’m just happy for your sake if this ends up being that one thing that has kept you in the dumps.

I do, every twelve weeks. Not ideal. But I get rashes from gel so.

I had to compute them,

Reference values in parenthesis

2018-07-27:
SHBG: 38 (10-80)
Total T: 5.6 (7.6-31) nmol/L
Free T (calculated) 0.0966 nmol/L = 1.72 %

2018-08-09:
SHBG: 57
Total T: 9.4
0.127 nmol/L = 1.35 %

2018-09-12:
SHBG: 44
Total T: 9.8
0.139 nmol/L = 1.41 %

And also one of my gonads is apparently too small.

I believe they should check your FSH/LSH, if they are normal a urologist should have a look at your balls. If FSH/LSH is fine, and your balls are fine, and yet you have low T I don’t know what would be the cause of that.

Reference values are age-independent, sadly. A reasonable ballpark for my age would be 21.38±5.9 Total T and 0.428±0.098 for free T.

I can’t make much sense of these numbers but it seems like my test levels are significantly lower than yours were even in 2018.
I’ll post the results in a sec.
Doc commented “your test level is at 3.1. It should be more like 5”.

Did they measure in nmol/L?

That puts you at 10.9216 nmol/L which is indeed low

All the more reason to hope for this as a possible cure, no?

@simo74 thanks buddy.

15.01.

DOMS of doom going on.

1 push press
up to
1 @ 100 kg
1 @ 110 kg
2 @ 120 kg

This was the first time I have missed a rep on overhead in forever. It really got to me. What I did is the following: I went downstairs to use a different barbell, moved my grip out slightly and went ape mode.
few @ 70 kg
1 @ 110 kg
4 @ 120 kg - PR.

Messed up the 1st royally. Did an additional rep to prove a fucking point (to myself that is)
I left both my reactions in the video because I feel like it is important to show them. Probably just to myself as a reminder to not hang my head.

2 log lift (clean once)
up to
1 @ 90 kg
4 @ 100 kg - good but not great

3 front hold
3 x max time @ 20 kg - pretty pathetic results

4a db inlcine bench press - pause at bottom
4 x 8 @ 35,5 kg

4b db incline row
4 x 10 @ 35,5 kg

5 external rotation with band
4 x 12

Notes:

  • this was a really important session in my head or maybe rather for my head?
  • very long and exhausting session.

Only got 2 hours of sleep this night. Might try for a bit more around mid day but there was no way during the night/ morning.
Lower back feels a bit dodgy. Not painful but ‘you wouldn’t want to deadlift today’ like. Most likely a combination of the farmer’s walk incident paired with log press yesterday.
I’ll try to do some mobility today to get lose and maybe decrease soreness a bit.

Fuck me. Way to turn it around.
