People With Whey Issues

Came across something that might help.

I got stomach discomfort eating any type of whey concentrate or isolate. I could eat 80 G protein from cottage cheese / meat with no issue, but more then 1 scoop whey (20 grams) and I’d be sick for about an hour. Then I happened upon something.

I read a few back articles and came across

Supplementation for Newbies
Mon, Dec 17, 2007

It had a piece on enzymes for absorbtion. Read Improving Digestion on page 2 of the article.

Fast forward a couple days, I took some with a whey drink. I had accidently made it too dense (2 scoops instead of 1) and started getting stomach pains again, bracing myself for and hour of annoyance. But 5 minutes later the discomfort left. Since I started taking enzymes, I have been able to chug 60G protein from whey with no discomfort at all.

When I google’d it the only advise/solutions people had were Egg or Soy based powder, or some other variation of Whey, no where had I read specifically this advise for whey issues.

So I want to forward this out there.

1: Has anyone else had this issue

2: If so have you tried enzymes to help?

Do you mean the bromelain or the Betaine HCL?

I take Betaine HCL with high protein/fat meals, and I could swear it works sometimes, but don’t know for sure.

Have not tried bromelain.

Yes, they both help and both work like magic and are worth every penny. I am not just messing with you.

I was reffering more toward people having stomach discomfort when eating whey. I never had problems with non whey proteins such as meat, just whey.

Yes those would be the two I am reffering.

And I do believe they work, simply because certain foods that made my stomach hurt no longer do so. Apples would rarely give me mild stomach pains, which they no longer do.
