People who have read the bible

Ah, yes. I remember reading the words of Christ that said, “only take care of your own”.

US and Israel definitely have close relations. And no doubt there’s a lot of shady stuff going on.

But control in deep state level? Nah. I need a lot of proof to that claim.

I’m not kicking anyone out in this hypothetical. Plus I think Buddhists like yourself are down with Jesus.

Christ command me to help of my fellow man. He never said, take money from your countrymen by force and send it to foreign nations.

its been redacted, but the videos haven’t.

Count the number of standing ovations Netanyahu gets if you like.
If you don’t want to watch, its 43 standing ovations in a 40-minute speech.

I agree. That is a different argument from saying Christians should only help Christians.

I think Christianity at its core is probably a good thing. Teaching people to love one another to be kind and show compassion. To turn your back on greed and materialistic desires. To not live your life in pursuit of lustful desires. Of course I think it would be better if more Christians actually lived this way.

He did say sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, though

I lived in the bible belt for a number of years.
The people were a “sin on saturday, forgiveness on sunday” type.

Grown men hanging outside of elementary schools to ambush kids with pocket bibles while their parents weren’t around.

The best version of this religion i’ve seen in person is when my car needed a jump, and a dude came over to help. Got our car started, then said he was a pastor at a local church and invited us to join him.
It was do nice thing, then kindly offer religion. Not the other way around.

Its crazy how similar this is to Scientology.
Like almost identical, except its “sell all your possessions and give the money to the church”

Yep. Many christians aren’t very christian in practice.

And this proves what?

I think it’s a sign that US has remarkably big pro-Israel christian voter base, and pleasing it is important.

Question who you should help by christian teachings us very interesting one. The whole concept of “nation” was so vastly different back then. I can’t say how global/universal the Christian idea of human value should be.

My 2 cents is that Jesus would not approve most things modern western societies these days, the mentioned massive differences in wealth and income as one example.

I think the base thought behind this is not bad. World would definitely be a better place if we would remove at least part of human greed.

Absolutely. But again you and me personally. When we try to make that a domestic/foreign policy by taking from others to give to others and making our nation poor, it’s no longer a personal choice to do as Christ does.

There is a Biblical balance:

  • **[1 Thessalonians 4:11] “And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you”. (Focuses on personal peace and industriousness)
  • **[1 Timothy 5:8] “But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel”. (Emphasizes family responsibility)
  • **[Philippians 2:4] “Let every one of you look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others”. (Balances self-care with care for others)
  • **[Matthew 6:33]“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you”. (Prioritizes God’s kingdom in all matters, including provision)
  • **[1 Timothy 4:16] “Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee”. (Stewardship of one’s spiritual life and teaching.)
