Damn, we got kicked out of our last gym because we used chalk on deads and some people get to use it on curls and lat pull downs. WOW.

I KNOW RIGHT!?! it’s complete bs, at the other location i used to workout at, they even put up a sign that said no chalk or loud grunting (i think they wanted to be like planet fitness), needless to say the worst perpertraters were the gyms own staff. i think mngmnt simply put the no chalk sign up so they wouldn’t have to clean anything…lazy bastards

Had a guy today running a circuit, part of which included the one of the two racks in our gym, myself in the other.

When he deigned to stop by, noticing my bar growing ever larger, he would slap more and more weight on it and proceed to do, no bullshit 1/6 squats. I swear a stiff legged calf raise had a better ROM than this guy.

The worst part is, during all this about three people noticed the tumbleweeds blowing by this heavy bar to whom I had to apologetically explain this bozo’s clown circuit.
I hate people that do this shit. 1/6 to 1/8th ROM and they wonder why their legs are small.
I saw a terrible case of this yesterday at my gym. this kid who probably weighed about 130 soaking wet walked up to the squat rack, slapped on four 45’s on each side (so 405) and proceeded to go at it cold, the kicker was that he only went down about 2 inches before coming back up. then one of the more experienced lifters in the gym came up to him and said “you know you should probably drop the weight and get your full ROM” the kid responded by “I know what im doing, i can probably squat more than you do” (and the guy he was talking to was an easy 250lbs) damn kids
Had a kid about 180 pounds, but decently built continually bug me about deadlifting claiming he could deadlift more than me because his muscles are more athletic and not so bulky. Which I just smiled and could care less about his boasting to be honest. There are plenty of people lighter than me that can put up larger numbers. My ego on lifting is long gone with my focus being on getting bigger and shaped better.

So today was back day and the kid was there. I invited him to deadlift with me and he did. I could see the eagerness in his eyes to show me up especially since his girl was with him. Got to 405 and he pulled 1 tough rep. Went up to 495 and he about broke his back not completing the lift, but claimed he did. Took it to 585 and he backed out and then said I was only stronger because I am on steroids and huffed and walked away. Seriously where do these people get their attitudes and delusions of grandeur from?

oooo in front of his girl? shoulda gave him a hand and threw the contest.

Nah I enjoyed embarrassing him in front of his woman.

*1 Had a group of three come into the gym today and proceed to do some kind of sumo commando / mix leg deadlift with a quarter on each side and the bar riding up between their legs, then proceed to do rear delt flys. I have never seen such a movement in my life and had to ask if they meant to work glutes. The guy I asked didn’t know and pointed me to his friend busy doing parallel delt flys and said something along it being his idea, we just do it. Saw them doing conventional deadlifts with the same weight about a minute later. (not dissing delt flys, they are legit.)

I should have recommended the sumo stance and ultra wide trap stance but simply walked away.

*2 The squat racks are usually taken up by one of two extremes. 1/6th ROM knee benders using too much weight or some form nazi with not enough weight going ATG on everything, usually a RECON Marine who seem to lack the ability to wear anything other than a jump school shirt and black skivvie shorts. I guess they think they make the rest of us 03XX waiting for EAS jealous… meh.

*3 Got these spindly skinny fat kids sometimes in the gym with the lats cut off of their wife beaters, I think one was pink? usually wearing the biggest belt available. Never paid much attention to them since it was the end of my workout.

*4 my peers: usually found doing triceps, biceps, or bench. There are only 3-4 exceptions, mainly my squad leader who is a 6ft+ 250lb+ tank from security forces, husky/muscle-y fat build like me.

Camp Schwab semper fit.

It sounds to me like he was doing a Jefferson Lift.

I dunno what a jefferson lift is but that sounds similar to something I was playing with for awhile, which was essentially a sumo deadlift that the bar sits askew and you step over it, pick it up with a cross grip with the bar between your legs. I was toying with alot of asymmetric things in an attempt to hit obliques and with the idea that if you get used to some asymmetry, you wont crumble or hurt yourself if something shifts wrong doing your lifts.

I would have, but she wasn’t my type. She was flatter than a board.

There used to be a guy at my gym who would take a 35lb db and toss it back and forth from hand to hand while sitting at the end of a bench. Dude always had an 80’s style jogging suit on with the elastic at the ankles. Even in the summer. And it’s 112 degrees here in the summer. I hated this guys face.

LOL! I ESPECIALLY hate that kind of guy. Come up and BRAG about how much better he is than you?? Like you asked. SMH.
I LOL’d at ‘‘you’re only stronger because you’re on steroids’’
I can picture his GF consoling him as they walk away and then turn her head and mouth ‘‘Call me’’ with a wink

Was squatting 4 days ago and a guy came up to the side of the rack, as close as he could get without actually being in it, and just stared me in the face as I did my reps. I couldn’t tell if he was saying anything b/c I had my earphones in but it was pretty creepy…
