If u attend the S’Haven DAC… OLe Miss gals on summer break can be a point of distraction where workouts needed to be rescheduled.

Best looking girls were seen in the SEC in the Grove on Saturdays. My opinion. And I went to all towns/school ( expect TX AM and MO when I attended college in my 5 years…
I’ll second the Grove as the best place to see the best eye candy during football season and you nailed it, they are thick in the DAC during the Summertime. Honerable mentions go to the Quad in T-town and in front of Tiger Stadium in BR before a night game.
Amen to the Grove I dunno what the deal is but every hot girl in the state seems to congregate at Ole Miss, with the occasional one sneaking down to Baton Rouge so nice choice with Tiger Stadium.

Poor MSU got real left out comparatively in the hot chick department but there are a few.

Them cow bells turn them off?

Probably. The one thing that State girls have on them though is that if you can find you a hot one they are usually much more laid back chicks and more fun to be around than the typical daddy’s little rich girls you find in the grove.

The ladies with the hats put those KY derby girls to shame! I’m telling ya…

I went to a rival school in the West. Would have went to Ole Miss after being jealous for 5 years. Worth the out of state tuition.

For sure on this. Some fine looking women running around ole DAC in the Haven.

I just strike most muscular in front of them while making noises like bombs exploding. Gets them creaming 50% of the time every time.
If you two are near S’Haven - come out to NBS fitness in Cordova and check us out, it’s worth the short trip. Might be a good break for the normal idiots you’re used to.

And to stay thread relevant the stupidest thing i’ve seen in a long time is a dude doing Banded neck work at EliteFTS during LTT.

I kid you not, he was doing banded neck work while everyone else is benching, squatting and kicking ass. Also, he wore Uggs out to dinner.

see I have to disagree with you, as long as you have heavy ernough kettlebells and are actually educated enough to know what the fuck you are doing. You can complete a solid full body lift using kettlebells…
I have never seen an impressive physique from someone using kettlebells as the core of their workout routine. But I am always open to be proven wrong.

Cordova is like a 50 minute drive from me, but wouldnt mind checking out the gym. I mainly go to the Edge in Southaven.

Come up on a Saturday, our powerlifting group trains at 11.

We’ve got strongmen that train early on saturdays too. You might know Tee down at Edge, not sure if he goes there or what. I think a day pass is 5-10$.

Come up some time, it’ll be a fun training change for you. Good environment.

appreciate it, I was pretty stoked when I found the picture

saw a pretty skinny guy in a sleeveless pink shirt with the sides cutoff and it said “Air gasm” He also spent about 5 minutes flexing in the mirror. There was also another guy pretty heavy using the nautilus leg press for calf raises and his buddy was helping him by pushing on it with every rep. Anyone ever do this?

No, but I’ve seen a guy use the 45 deg leg press machine for a tricep exercise by kneeling on the seat and pushing on the sled with a tricep extension-like movement.

Having gone thru the early kettlebell craze almost 10 years ago, I think making it a priority in your workouts is a road to nowhere

Great for cardio, but if it comprises more than 10-20% of your gym time, it’s not gonna end the way you had hoped - if you give a damn what you look like

Agreeing with you on this. And I wouldn’t even say the strength gains were worth it.

I spent a long time trying to get good at one-arm overhead pressing the 53 pounder; I could barely do it with one arm, and still struggled with the other.

With less than a month of training overhead press with a barbell, I was able to press that same kettlebell with both arms pretty easily.

If all you have is a set of kettlebells and you’re stranded in the middle of Siberia, you can figure out how to make it work. But when you have access to barbells and weight plates, there’s much better options.

Completely agree - great tool if you are traveling somewhere remote with limited or non existent " facilities" … And you can get creative with them if need be, but to make them your focus will always disappoint muscle and strength wise

Sorry for the hijack - saw the OP’s kettlebell comment, and I’ve been kind of simmering in my own juices after that ridiculous 400 lb kettlebell swing article

Yeah I never understood the fascination with them and they are costly. Plus all the people at my gym I see using them look like absolute shit.

Besides kettle bell swings what else are you supposed to do with them that you can’t do with a dumbbell
bdocksaints75 wrote:

Well, to be honest, dumbbell swings were used ~100 years ago even when kettlebells were around.

Bottoms-up presses are good for general grip stability stuff. The closest you can get with a DB is trying to balance it on one end and do a one-armed press, but it’s not quite the same.

Halos (bringing it around the body, handing off hand to hand) and Figure-8s through the legs are good for core stabilization; much harder to do these with dumbbells.

Snatches are different with KBs, mostly because of how you learn to decelerate and not smack yourself in the forearm when it rotates around.

Hand-to-hand swings, where you basically throw it up with one hand, catch it with the other, and reverse.

For everything else… curls, presses, turkish get ups… the kettlebells provide a slightly different load since the weight’s not balanced in your hand, but I wouldn’t say that’s too significant.

For martial arts purposes, I can see a lot more how you’d use kettlebells. For strength and physique goals, they’re just not a great tool.

So…what exactly is the benefit of doing a snatch or clean with anything other than a barbell? I’ve seen dumbell cleans and snatches before and they just look ridiculous to me.

I don’t see how any of that, the core work, that you do with a KB, can’t be done with a different exercise and be as effective if not more. Most of it is stupid, new age BS.
