Peaking and Recovery for Coach Davies

Hi Coach,
I’m using your program for MMA and I was wondering if what recovery methods you favor?
My pre/post workout nutrition is pretty solid but I’m wondering how often you use massage, ice baths, a bucket of aspirin or whatever to aid recovery. Thanks a lot

I wouldn’t take aspirin because that can lower your t-levels.

Cold/hot showers after working out, BCAA and Glutamine Peptises, minerals such as Magnesium, 15-20 minutes of meditation after working out and a good post workout recovery drink are some examples of solid recovery methods.

Mike, could you give a detailed description on how to do the cold/hot showers? How long should you do thwm for, and how long should you do each cold/hot portion of the shower? Also, could you offer some background on how and why this works?

Ill be doing a search as soon as I get back home from work, but Im extremely interested in the subject, so your help will be greatly apreciated.

Also, any hard evidence on how much meditation can help you?

Scrappy - you posting here? Ok…but you know you can always just email me.

Lets see recovery - well, there are a variety of things to consider. The first thing I want to make sure is that you’re following the loads in the prescribed manner, working through GPP AND your doing your post-workout stretch pattern. From there proceed to dietary / supplement / hydration considerations and elements such as contrast showers / pool (or ocean) work and ice massage.

Hope that helps!

In faith,

Coach Davies

Des,

Where did you read that Aspirin lowered your T levels?

Diesel gets a kick out of bumping year old posts and having everyone try to answer the original poster.
