PCP Looks Down at Hormone Replacement Clinics like Defy & Other Locals

I’m with defy and will get my first prescription ordered here by earlier next week.

My doctor and nurse practitioner that works at his office said these places only care about my money and push supplements.

A urologist and Endo are the real places to go.

I went to Endo and he didn’t even wanna do treatment as I’m too young lol

Yet defy said pcp giving me test 100mg every week is not the right treatment but HCG 500mg 3x week + arimidex 2-3 x week is as it’s safer long term

While I agree some of these T-mills go after your wallet and know almost nothing about properly monitoring men on TRT, there are exceptions as there are those like Dr Saya that could stand toe to toe with the best. These arimidex 2-3 x week from Defy aren’t 1mg pills, but are .125mg almost a tenth of a mgs.

I think your PCP and nurse practitioner aren’t seeing the point, that you wouldn’t need to go to these clinics if they knew what they were doing.

Does defy give you a script that you can fill on your own? I dont think so. So your Dr is partially right. $$$

Yes Defy will write you a script for your meds. The problem is many states won’t accept out of state prescriptions. So if you live in Florida you are covered. Last time I asked it was 25 bucks for the written script mailed to me.

EMCON, My PCP said the same. To the point he would not give me the annual physical Defy requires. I have to go to a grocery store clinic.
I have challenged my PCP. Gave him permission to do any tests he wants and prove to me Defy is jacking me up. So far he just smirked knowing I called his bluff.

“To prove defy is jacking you up?”
What do you mean?

I didn’t realize I could ask for that script mailed as I live in Texas. What would be the benefit of asking my local pharmacy to fill it, will it cost less?

My PCP thinks TRT will give you cancer in the long run. Promote or worsen BPH. Cause heart conditions. Will thicken your blood raising your blood pressure.

So I have given my PCP the right to run any test he can think of to see if my TRT has done anything bad to me. I have been on TRT for over 2 years my BP is 129/76 Resting heart rate is 60. My waist size has gone from a 42 to a 36. I have abs again and my wife is digging the shit out of my new found staying power.

I am starting to believe that Defy is one the Mills everyone talks about. That might be an unpopular opinion but everyone that comes on here basically has the same starting protocol T + HcG + AI. Why are they prescribing AI before symptoms even begin. Seems like its an easy way to nickle and dime. Maybe I am wrong. Thats very possible.

When I switched to Defy I was already on TRT and I had E2 and prolactin issues, water leaking from my nipples and very sore, both were over range. I was given a very small dose to take .125 3 times a week and a new mini blood test in 6 weeks. My E2 and prolactin had dropped to the middle of the range and I was told to only take the AI if I felt it was needed.
I don’t know what others are told. I am glad to have it on hand if needed. They have never forced me to take anything and I can buy blood test dirt cheap from them. If you only want to take a look at your HCT it is 11 bucks. An your gas to get to LabCorp.

I am not saying Defy is cheap they are not but I have always felt like I am getting my moneys worth from them. The T mills around my town want you to join and pay $$$ monthly and they shoot your ass full of pellets. No thanks

It been over two years now They ask for a TRT checkup/consult with blood test every 6 months and a standard physical once a year. Thats it.

HCG is recommended for those concerned about fertility, that almost always guarantees the need for an AI. Dr. Saya told me if I’m not interested in fertility HCG wasn’t recommended.

That doesn’t seem like a T-mill to me. Also noticed how injection frequencies and dosages are all radically different.

They asked me the same thing if I’m concerned about having kids I said yes but don’t really honestly care.

Why would hcg not be recommended? Doesn’t it have less sides and still raises test?

What does AI have to do with needing being concerned with fertility?

There are guys who have had low T for awhile and have gained weight and the aromatase enzyme that converts T to E2 lives in the fat tissue, the AI or estrogen blocker prevents this process from getting out of control.

The HCG also accelerates this process of converting T to E2, nine times out of ten if a guy is on TRT+HCG, he’s on an AI.

But outside of maintaining fertility, does HCG have other benefits as well? Penis sensitivity and overall sense of well being ?

Testosterone and estrogen being in a range good for you have more to do with penis sensitivity, high, low estrogen hurts penis sensitivity.

Thanks for clarifying. It helps to change my perspective and keep an open mind.

I guess I just lumped them all together then formed a negative opinion of them. Thanks for clearing it up.

Thanks.

Some people on other boards, like Nelson Vergel state it helps with sensitivity. Maybe it’s not the HCG per se, but the increase in e2 that is the reason.

HCG increase E2, low E2 lowers penis sensitivity.

Defy started me on what looks like the “standard” 3x/week test +hcg + AI. However I started with Defy after already being on testosterone for 9 months and had high e2 labs and symptoms. It doesn’t appear that they blindly picked cookie cutter numbers.

They took my 2x weekly testosterone dose and split into 3 in hopes of lowering an e2 spike. For the hcg we had a discussion on pros/cons. The biggest con being an expected rise in e2, since I elected to try it they started me at a lower dose to try to make sure things don’t go crazy. The anastrozole I was started on .125mg 3x / week in hopes of long term goal of achieving a t+hcg dose that doesn’t cause e2 symptoms.

Do you know if the $25 fee is for an individual prescription or could it be one fee that covers multiple items?

edit: I do know it doesn’t have to be a written script. They will also call it in to your pharmacy, possibly with the exception of out of state testosterone.
