Patton Quotes

Can we infer from this quote that the USA is the most clueless nation of the last century?

That Patton quote is my favorite.

It took a very special country to produce such a great man as the General. He was a true and pure warrior, produced by the noblest and most moral society in the history of the world. Only the United States of America could produce men such as this.

Most other countries produce appeasing rodents, who cower at a raised voice. America produces MEN.

I thank God for the gift of being born in America, an honor I couldn’t have possibly deserved.
Geez. You think there couldn’t possibly be people who are this myopically, moronically nationalistic, but somehow, there are.

Other countries don’t produce men? Do you read history? Or read the news? To paraphrase Bill Maher, a guy I’m not a big fan of, you can call the 9/11 hijackers a lot of things, but coward isn’t one of them.

Bill Maher is a fucking idiot. Hiding behind his skirt is just ghey.

As usual, 100% Bullshit. Except maybe the last sentence.

Patton was a good general, but his fame was largely the result of his personality rather than his skills. How many battles has he fought without having the overwhelming numerical superiority of men and material on his side? Outside the History Channel Patton isnt even in the top 50 of greatest warriors ever.

Agreed. What do you think about Fallon resigning? He seemed to be undercutting Petraeus.

Can’t spell his name correctly either, ey?

I caught it and corrected it before you posted. So stick it up your ass.

Really, they have definitive rankings? Maybe he would have been higher if he sent some troops home or arranged for his equipment to be worse…

Apparently the army still thinks highly of his tactical abilities. One small piece of evidence: http://stinet.dtic.mil/cgi-bin/GetTRDoc?AD=ADA331356&Location=U2&doc=GetTRDoc.pdf

Someone in the Australian military included him in its top military thinkers/leaders since 1492 list: http://www.au.af.mil/au/aul/bibs/great/great.htm

That’s all I cared to go through out of the first couple pages of a Google search.

I second that. I can’t stand Bill Maher. I hate him so fucking much, I swear to god if I ever see him in public, I am going to rush him and punch him in his big fucking nose.

Anyone who likes Bill Maher, and thinks he is some sort of intellectual, or thinker, or patriot or whatever, is a kook. Maher is a wannabe elitist. He talks down to people, he thinks he is better than everyone else, he hates America and Americans, and he is just plain fucking stupid.

God, even thinking about him makes me want to punch something. Fuck, I hate him so fucking much. I am literally trembling with rage right now…

Oh bullshit. He is says exactly what many people think, just more bluntly without all the garbage.

The only thing I ever did not agree with him on was at the start of the iraq war when he supported it- other than that, I have never had issue with anything he’s said. He talks down to people because that’s what people do when they’re arguing politics- RJ does it all the time to Lixy, I do it to Headhunter, Vroom used to do it to RJ… it’s the nature of arguing politics. Stop being a cunt.

If a TV persona gets you that angry, you need to get a motherwhoring life. I hope Rush Limbaugh gets ass cancer, but if he didn’t I don’t particularly care. C’mon dude. Put it in perspective.

Only Cincinnatus in the list was worthy of respect. Churchill was a criminal, who admitted in his diary that he suckered the Germans into attacking the USA, thus bringing us into the war (WWI). Napolean had an opportunity to make France a great nation and instead chose to murder his neighbors.
It’s well known that Churchill wanted war. And believe me, I’m not a fan of his attitudes towards either the Irish or the Unions. But the man led his country, which was a democracy, through the darkest of days, and eventually to victory against an enemy that seemed indestructible. Stop being asinine and give credit where it’s due.

Napolean indeed had noble intentions at the beginning, and was doing wonderfully until he declared himself Emperor. Of course, any man who makes the hieracrchies of Europe tremble in fear is a man who is OK with me, minus his own vanity or personal ambitions.

You need to stop being so fucking idealistic. Washington owned other humans, as did Jefferson (and he banged’em). Lincoln, as much as I love him, did suspend Habeas Corpus and imprison politicians. Roosevelt was a huge drinker who married his damn cousin. This shit happens… you have to decide whether the good was worth the bad.

Anyone who deals in absolutes is an imbecile. You are toeing that line carefully… and falling.

Really? So the Athenian democracy was terrible compared to ours? After the Romans created a senate with two consuls just so one man could not have power for too long… there’s was inferior also?

No country sets out from the start to be the baddest motherfuckers on the block. They turn that way slowly after they get drunk on military might and overwhelming influence on their neighbors. America is heading down this road because of Republican led imperialistic ventures… although the Democrats have not been much better either. That was not the original American intention, but the we know what the road to hell was paved with.

Although I do like Patton, as far as tacticians go, I don’t see him being in the top 25 Americans, let alone worldwide.

That’s getting a bit ridiculous.

America is actually the ONLY moral country ever purposely created. Americans were the first to understand that your life belongs to YOU, not to the government, the king, or the herd. Only when we began to copy the Europeans, especially adopting altruism as our morality, did we begin to suck. Hillary or Barack will probably complete the transformation — then I will agree with you, that America sucks donkey balls.

No one can be a saint and a politician. Sure, we all know that. That’s why our Founding Fathers tried to set it up so no one could make our government wicked. Trouble is, that conflicts with the principles of Altruism, and Altruism won. You no longer own yourself — try skipping your income tax or real estate tax.

Churchill used innocent crews on neutral ships as bait. He ordered his ships to charge periscopes and never surrender, to even attack a white flag. The Germans, understandably, shot at everything in sight. Churchill was a war criminal. If you give him a pass, you have to praise Bush.

When people accept altruism, they accept the use of force in relationships. You’re allowed to rob someone to help the needy. You become a thug, just like most of DC and Hillary.

Now, why did the Athenians kill Socrates again?

You want government, you pay income tax.

You want social services, you pay real estate taxes.

Get the fuck over it, taxes aren’t changing no matter how much you whine. And though the money is often mismanaged, many times it goes to invaluable social services.

I don’t know these things for sure and I’m not looking into it now, so i’m not going there yet.

Probably the same reason that MLK Jr., Medgar Evers, and Malcolm X were asasinated.

Force makes the world go round my friend. Those who make more should pay more. That’s fine with me. Otherwise, we get Headhunter’s Oligatchy, which I know you so desperately wish for, but it won’t ever see the light.

Now, why did the Athenians kill Socrates again?
Because he perverted the youth and showed no respect for the gods?

His idea for an alternative sentence did not help.

“Today we received orders… in which we were told to give the Jews special accommodations. If for Jews, why not Catholics, Mormons, etc?.. We are also turning over to the French several hundred thousand prisoners of war to be used as slave labor in France. It is amusing to recall that we fought the Revolution in defense of the rights of man and the Civil War to abolish slavery and have now gone back on both principles.”

“There is a very apparent Semitic influence in the press. They are trying to do two things: first, implement communism, and second, see that all businessmen of German ancestry and non-Jewish antecedents are thrown out of their jobs. They have utterly lost the Anglo-Saxon conception of justice and feel that a man can be kicked out because somebody else says he is a Nazi. They were evidently quite shocked when I told them I would kick nobody out without the successful proof of guilt before a court of law… Another point which the press harped on was the fact that we were doing too much for the Germans to the detriment of the DP’s, most of whom are Jews. I could not give the answer to that one, because the answer is that, in my opinion and that of most nonpolitical officers, it is vitally necessary for us to build Germany up now as a buffer state against Russia. In fact, I am afraid we have waited too long.”

On Israel, Maher Likes President Bush
Bill Maher is an expert Bush basher. But don’t let it be said that the HBO talk-show host and political funnyman is incapable of showing a bit of love for the president. In an August 28 interview with Larry King, Maher gave Bush the thumbs up for his record on Israel.

http://www.carpenoctem.tv/military/patton.html

Patton was the father of Armored Tactics in the US Army. His development of the deep thrust into enemy territory using armor was designed to keep enemy forces from reforming defensive lines. It worked brilliantly.

The article I linked to is a good summary of Patton’s accomplishments. Olympic athlete, military leader, first thinker and flamboyant and opinionated SOB. The kind of guy that used to be admired on T-Nation. Now…well this is where we are at.

The most important statement in the article was “Patton won every campaign he participated in”. The same cannot be said of his well thought of opponents and enemies. Ultimately that is how the professional keeps score in these types of affairs.
