I fully intended to go to the gym Friday night, but ended up spending time with my mom. Since I live close to my parents, I’m trying to spend more time with them, sometimes it’s good, sometimes I realize I’m still a 13 year old in their eyes. Anyway, no gym, instead I ate like a beast and watched my mom practice a dance for a Diwali Program at the community center.
Sat
Yoga - I feel a lot smoother flowing, it feels good. Next time I have to ask if you’re supposed to lock out the knee when you’re balancing on one leg. Not locking it out is way harder, but I feel like locking it out is probably not the way to go.

Ha! Friday night was Martin Family Astrology night at my parents.
Me my sis my dad… mom was there decoratively but she’s not all up on her Gypsy magic LOL.
I think you are not supposed to lock it out. I’ve been toying with the idea that perhaps you are supposed to shove your knee out to the side a little - like for squatting. I certainly feel it in my knee and hip stabilizers doing it that way, anyhow.
Do you know mushroom pose? I get a good stretch from it. Some people can take it all the way to the floor…
you stand on one leg and put your other ankle up resting on your quad (kinda like a tree pose). then… you sit your butt back and squat as low as you can. i get a good stretch in the glute of my leg that is raised. people hunch forwards with their spine in flexion to balance themselves… and some people can get low enough to touch the floor with their arms. a one legged squat variant i guess.
I’ve eaten like a beast all weekend. Indian holiday food is literally sugar mixed with Ghee and flour then fried with sugar later sprinkled on top. Occasionally it’s covered in silver after. So, I tried to fit in some moving of stuffs.
Sat Afternoon
A1)Pullups with the band 5x5
I took Frenchie’s advice here, didn’t give a fuck and set up the stair risers in the middle of the pully machine. It was great to not have to worry about falling off trying to get my feet into the band.
B1)Inverted row 10x2 5x1
B2)Incline Push up 10x2 5x1
C1)Step ups BW x25 each leg
I already had my tower, so why not? I also felt awesome doing them, I had about 8 risers under the step and got to be wonderfully tall.

I probably would have left the class.
I thought about it, but then everyone would have asked if I was sick and I would have had to come up with an excuse. So, I took the path of least resistance.

Good stuff gorl!
OMG, I love astrology! That would be an awesome night! I just saw an astrologist a few weeks ago. It was fascinating! She did my birth chart first and then you could ask specific questions with the tarot cards. It was pretty amazing.
Nice training! Jump rope is the best. And good work on the pullups! 5x5 is good stuff. I bet you could do one unassisted if you can do 5x5 assisted, no?
I knew I could prompt you into some rolling
do you know I dont mind the whitebelts- so much
except for crazy kid who panics and kicks you in the face or something equally stupid
what I got more tired of is rolling with people who want to use they ‘muscles’
lame.
glad you got to tear it up
that nerd/sexy meme was on par with the hot nerd ass
nice work
The so-much, that’s the key part of the sentence. Lol.
Oh yeah, worse is the higher belt that muscles because they can’t lose. Then it’s literally just painful.

Ah I’ve been eating (& drinking) like a beast myself over the weekend. Fried ghee, sugar and more sugar sound just up my alley, maybe soak it in some liquor next time.

That is so weird about the spin class. A couple of the spin instructors at my gym are on the fat side - I am not sure why that is. Chronic cardio? But at least they don’t actually eat on the bike. WTF. I hope you complained!
I just assumed some instructors were fat because they didn’t have their shit together outside of the gym. Also a lot of them teach aerobics classes, but don’t actually do any aerobics. There’s an obese woman at the gym that teaches a abs class. I’ve never taken it, but from watching I can say she does each move once to try to show it, then just yells at them through the other reps.

I didn’t know you did BJJ! What rank are you? I was guilty of being a flopper. It must have been really frustrating for people who wanted to practice technique lol
I’m a blue belt.
Oh, I can’t even imagine how annoying I was as a newbie. I could probably go back to my old log and read it, but somethings are best left in the past. I think I was probably one of those that thought she was way stronger than she is.
I do work with white belts, it’s not like I shun them, and I will always take a new girl her first week or so of class. I just don’t like to always be with them, especially if I haven’t rolled in a while.

Really? I thought you want to try to stand tall and be in a straight line. I’m definitely going to have to ask about it now.

I know exactly what you’re talking about, and have no idea what we call it. I’ve seem people go all the way to the floor with it, but I can’t go that low. It feels really good on my hips and upper legs. It’s usually what I hold while I take my shoes off for spin, just stretch a bit after.

Sadly, no. I still use the super big band and stretch it a lot. They’re getting better but not close to good yet.
