Patch2's Adventures 2

And we’re back to the grind. I have to do some maths, but the plan is for the first day of 531 tonite. The maxes I’m starting with are:

OHP 65lbs x 1
BP 100lbs x 2
Squat 135lbs x 2
DL 225lbs x 1

Edit: While they may seem like good numbers, it might help to have the context of I still weigh 170 lbs.

I’ve done virtually nothing since Wends, a bit of dicking around and max testing but I ate like a beast over the weekend, so lifting tonite should be good.

Well, I guess my thoughts are that while there are guys that are extremes, but I am disappointed in all the men that ignore them. Really, the women have to point out that it’s not ok? On a site full of strong men? Shouldn’t the men being holding each other accountable? The guys that post in my log don’t tend to be guys that spend any time in SAMA or GAL, and so don’t know, which I guess is why I’ll still log. I don’t mean to imply it’s ok to be misogynistic in any way by still being here.

A guy starts talking like that in the academy when I’m around and he gets a warning. He does it again an he gets the shit beat out of him and he’s gone. Not because I’ve ever said I was uncomfortable or because I’ve ever said anyone has gone too far, but because the guys just know that’s not acceptable behavior. You don’t teach a guy like that to fight. You don’t help those guys get stronger. I’ve never been asked to leave as a result.

Oh you should, it’s super fun! Like hitting something with a much much more forceful dodge ball.

Lol, Kev. I don’t think I could ever deal with that many people on a day to day basis. I’ve been to NYC once, and it was way too crowded. Being able to walk everywhere was nice though.

I look at it as a choice between horses and gophers. If you don’t get rid of the gophers, the horses have a greater chance of stepping in one of their holes and breaking something, then you have to put down the horse so they don’t suffer. I’ll always choose horses over gophers. Maybe that’s the prairie girl in me :slight_smile:

A bit of BJJ before I lose it all! I’m just going to do some quick and
dirty notes, if anyone really cares, let me know and I can add
details.

The pass that I wasn’t getting, turns out that it’s a variation of an
x-pass and the reason it wasn’t working for me is because I was
stepping out and having too wide of a base. Making me unstable. I also
wasn’t keeping the grips on the pants when I transitioned to knee on
belly. The grip controls his leg while you’re transitioning.

I’ve been having issues with that weird situation where, the dude is
standing, but I don’t want to stand, but we don’t have a connection.
So, I asked about that and got a nice little takedown. Basically, you
koala bear around one of his legs, while keeping your legs in like a
90/90 position, and keeping your head tight to his body near the
front. Then stand up in base. It pulls his leg right out from under
him. As long as I stay tight, I can pretty easily crawl up his body at
that point.

In rolling news I got to smash a little girl, and then got smashed
myself. I took from this though that I need to be a finisher. Go in
with a game plan and make it work. I don’t do that now, and letting
the other person dictate makes me play their game. I’d rather they
have to play mine.

Oh no, I meant that for me personally just dicking around in the back
yard it doesn’t make sense to kill things. I totally understand doing
it for work/ keeping animals safe.

Then jumping rope. My ankle can’t deal with jumping on one foot, so I just skipped or jumped on 2 feet for 450 jumps, in basically sets of 100.

Tricep Pressdown - used the machine that’s supposed to be like dips. I don’t think it’s like dips. Machines are weird.
3x15x weight - no idea what the 3 little dots mean on the weight stack. I think it’s supposed to make it less intimidating, but I just find it confusing.

Patch you should probably be okay on mp. If you do the calculations, they don’t give you the same number for multiple sets because there are different percentages. The blackiron site gives the barbell weight but doesn’t go any lower. So muliple sets at bar weight.

Anywho the time change has fucked with me as well. I don’t do well on less sleep even if it’s only an hour.

Glad to hear you like 5.3.1 on your dead day. For me it’s the toughest day but it’s the most satisfying and is my most productive.

This is one of my favourite (and most challenging!) aspects of martial arts.

DL day on 531 was my fav too with MP coming in a close second.

I’ve been feeling really meh about the gym the last few days. Traveling always throws a wrench in things for me. I really rely on habit. I’m going to have to fake it for the rest of the week and then hopefully it’ll come back.

I’m still in the land of Meh, but it’s getting better. I just can’t let myself wallow in excuses. I’m tired. Of course I’m tired, I’ve been lazy lately and lazy begets more lazy.

I’m a pretty hardcore podcast addict. I don’t really listen to music any more, it’s mostly podcast. I’ve actually been listening to nothing at the gym lately. I usually have my nano and my earphones in, but that’s mostly to keep people away. Music just hasn’t clicked lately.

Anyway back to the initial tangent. Lately the theme across media has been that will power begets will power. It’s proposed that it’s something to work on and build, but then that means it can also be used up. I’ve been trying to keep that in mind lately.

music! i don’t know how people lift without music or lift to radio or crappy music or whatever. someone posted a clip of some european national olympic weightlifting team lifting to brittany spears and i have no idea how the hell they did that. music is really very important to me… regulating autonomic arousal. do you have some music that is surefire to get you amped??
