Pat Metheny New Album- Orchestrion

This is not a normal album
It’s an orchestra made of instrument controlled by a computer with Pat Metheny playing over it

it blew my mind

Unfortunately he wont be touring near where I live, but I recommend it to anyone. Pat Metheny is one of the most popular guy in jazz today if that means anything

300 000 fucking views

if you don’t care about this then ignore, but if you didnt know about it and you like it then my job is done

metheny is crazy, i saw the preview for this a few month ago, although i like his straight up jazz shit better

WOW
That’s pretty cool!
I have to agree with GrindOverMatter though.
Thanks for the link jasmincar

I was actually going to start a thread about Jazz fans on the nation. It will be interesting to see how many people are fans.

Anyway, orchestrion is fucking incredible… Metheny is a genius. And evidently also very wealthy.

I think he really stepped his game up with recent album such as ‘‘The Way Up’’ (2005) and ‘‘Speaking of Now’’ (2003)

they are really really good

Metheny really is a rare breed of musical mastermind. Admittedly Im not a big jazz fan, but my older brother has every cd by the Pat Metheny, the Rippingtons, Acoustic Alchemy, etc. so Ive learned to appreciate the stuff just by being around it so much growing up. I really like First Circle by him, if for no other reason its just bizarrely entertaining =P

I’d agree with Grind that Metheny can be a bit nuts, but he can also be a great musician. “One Quiet Night” was an amazing album. This one seems a bit too modern-artish for my tastes, but I’ll check it out…

Haha, Metheny is probably one of the more “down to earth” Jazz musicians. I know Pat Martino posts quite prolifically on the internet. However, people kind of gave up asking him questions when they couldn’t make head nor tail of the answers

yo guyz this isnt related but I have been having a debate with myself and I want to know what version of this song is the best
