We do have some extreme ideological types here, on both sides, though it definitely leans right, but your caustic repartee is an automatic DQ. Seriously, learn some adult debate skills. Ad hominem insults get you nowhere, and it’s the most childish, least effective form of debate. In fact, it reinforces certain stereotypes that are commonly held from those who hold opposing ideologies. At least breathe, sit down, and bring some intelligent banter to the table here. There is absolutely no merit held in insulting those with whom you disagree. In fact, the most effective way to score political points and win bipartisanship on political issues, rhetorically speaking, is to bring people to the table, not shove them away.

You can do what is morally correct and save them because you are a humanitarian and decent human being. Or you can say “fuck it” because, obviously, the kid’s parents are not humanitarians or decent human beings and if the kid is saved he could turn out just like these despicable so-called human beings and grow up to be even more cold, insensitive and void of any sort of empathy.

Me, if it were a real child, I’d probably try and save him.

But as parents what should they do and why aren’t the doing it?

Darnell what if years ago you saved this kid’s cousin from certain death and after that all he did was put you down, insult you, do every sort of evil towards you and even tried to kill you? If you knew this was the family this kid was coming from, that he had every tendency to turn out just like his uncivilized kin, what would you do? If you knew this child could one day possibly, and I do say possibly, grow up to hurt and even try to kill you or your family, what would you do? Save him and risk possible harm or death?

To me this little analogy speaks more to my suggestion of adopting the children of the refugees into American homes. If I’m standing over a well with a child trapped inside and the parents are standing there drinking beers and cracking jokes, I’d want to save the kid, take him home and raise him to be a decent human. No sense in handing him over after rescuing knowing if they raise him he will only grow up to be another asshole like them.
