this could be good for the sport. When people realise they can’t go on like this it might shift the focus back to smaller waists, aesthetics etc instead of just mass at all costs (the cos being huge bloated guts, withered limbs and monkey faces).
I like how you’re thinking.

Silver lining?
eventually yeah, could be a silver lining. Will probably get worse before it gets better though, with younger and younger guys being affected.

That Ronnie picture got to me too.

Someone posted this on another forum, writing that they think it looks like Phil is in the early stages of P-ism.

What do you all think?

Personally, I don’t see it.

lol, I think that face he’s pulling on the right hand picture doesn’t do him any favours!

I’ll check some other pictures…

right, I had a wee looksie. I don’t think he’s showing signs in his face, he’s always had a pretty strong jawline even when he played basket ball, but there does seem to be some distension in his abs.

that’s bad, Phil’s what, like 31? 32?

I don’t think so. The number on his waist went from 22 to 19. If he was Palumboing it would have increased, not decreased.

lol, “palumboing”, that’s good.

I dunno though man, his abs are looking kinda weird in that 2012 picture…

I hope it isn’t happening to him though, the guy is so young!

Man my feelings have been that way for a loooong time. When I see old pics of Arnold, I feel inspired. When I see pics of pros these days and from the last several years, I don’t feel anything of the sort.

What it looks like to me is that his belly is full of air in the second pic and in the first he has exhaled and is fully flexing his abs.

Also, we tend to take photography’s still imagery as truth. That pic was most likely snapped just before Phil tensed his abs.

Also, obviously bigger, and the lighting is different (the shadows are more luminous and create less contrast… but don’t get me started on stage lighting).

I hope you guys are right, I guess time will tell

Look at Coleman now, a mere 6 years after retiring. Ugh.

Now go back and look at Arnold 6 years after retiring! Healthy!

Also from 2012…

he does look much better there.

Phew!

Ah yes! The Phil I love!

Dorian 15 years after retiring. #Winning

It will be interesting to see what guys like Phil, Kai, and Jay (and younger guys like Rhoden and Centopani) look like when they’re near 50 years old. (Dorian’s 50 here, Big Ron’s 48).

DORIAN FTW!

I totally agree.

That picture of Dorian at the pool is awesome! Surprised at how lean he is.

It is such a pity that those who probably know what is actually going on, don’t speak up (not that they are posting on this board). I bet that someone like Dorian (or any other non-retarded pro or ex-pro) have a good idea what is going on. Of course there are obvious reasons why they don’t do that in any public form.

As a result we are left with all this ill-informed guess-work - not blaming anyone here trying to make sense of it though.

Reminds me of the endless and futile discussions on various Internet forums about the extent of PED/doping use in other sports.

You just want to meet the right person in a bar, drink a beer together, and ask something like “So X, what is really going with…?”
