Pain from Sleeping on Shoulder?

I can’t sleep on my sides, arms go numb and shoulders hurt like hell. Never had this problem until I started putting on size…

Damn I was hoping if my muscles got harder/denser, maybe the arteries would be stronger and I wouldn’t have numb hands and arms in the middle of the night.

Thanks for posing this question, guess I’m going to have to learn how to sleep on my back. Did anybody use sleeping pills to learn how to do this?[/quote]

I’d learn it without… You need to find a position that allows you to sleep well on your own, after all.

Few tips: Don’t place the pillow so low that your mid/lower traps are on it, too, I always wake up with numb arms from that

I use a shaped pillow that’s still soft, but where the portion that goes under your neck isn’t too large/high… Then a big, soft pillow under the knees.

For some reason I automatically seem to clasp my fingers and then my forearms fall asleep (wtf)… So I make sure that my arms lie at my sides… And keeping internal rotation in check does seem to help  Edit: I meant the scapula, not internal rotation… sort of like: The more they wing out, the worse for sleeping on the back…

Different people need different strategies for this one… And some people don’t seem to have much of an issue at all…

I do fine on my side as long as I don??t use thick or multiple pillows.

Well, how big are you…

Had/Have the same problem. Doc told me, when asked during yearly physical, pretty much what was said above, artery and/or nerve impingement. He said that he hears this a lot.

He said to sleep on my back and without arms above the head. That works most of the time but I still find myself rolling onto my side and definitely feel it the next day.
