Pacquiao vs Mosley

Pac & May are both picking and choosing their opponents with a real aversion to risk. This Mosley fight is just the latest example. They both made their names at lower weight classes and now they’re milking it with these internally promoted low risk affairs.

One key difference is that Pac has come into the position to make demands and pick and choose fairly recently whereas Mayweather has been extremely selective throughout his tenure at welterweight. When Cotto and Margarito (& maybe even Mosely) were perceived to be the most dangerous fighters, May wanted no part of them. He went and retired.

For these reasons, the fans are probably more tolerable of Top Rank’s shenanigans but that goodwill is all but exhausted on meaningless fights, titles and catch weights. Pac’s next and probably last fight had better be against Mayweather or Martinez should he beat Mosley.

Martinez is just too big for Pac. And if Pac had Martinez fight at a catch weight, I’d be very disappointed.

Winky Wright. Just sayin’.

Sugar Shane does not like fighting people who box. I will be surprised if Pac makes him look worse than Mayweather did. [/quote]

That’s true, I forgot about him. But then- even Winky’s wins weren’t as one sided as May-Mosley.

It’s okay if they fight at a catch weight and NO TITLE is involved. If both parties are up for it then they can fight for a lot of money in an entertaining/risky/dramatic fight.

What I hate is when fighters win a title for a specific weight class at a catch weight and then are recognized as the champ at that weight class. Even Martinez’ big win over Paul Williams came at a catch weight of 158 (Demanded by Williams’camp) for the Middleweight title.

Martinez could be a huge star, but if he knocks out Pac he’s in the same boat Pac is if he fights Shane.

If he wins, well he’s fucking huge, he’s supposed to, but if he loses, he lost to a peanut, and it could REALLY damage his career, especially if he loses too much weight (which he would probably have to).

I don’t want to see this fight unless its at 154 or higher. None of crybaby Freddie Roach’s bullshit. I’m so fuckin sick of him.

Pac fights Martinez at 154 or higher, Pacs get KOd.

I respect Freddie Roach because it actually looks like he cares about Pacs health after he retires from boxing. Arum is who I have no respect for.

Martinez is incapable of going below 154 and not being drained to shit. It would ruin the fight, and do nothing but add a paper title to Pac’s collection of catchweight titles.

That’s why a fight between them should never happen. Unfair for Martinez at less than 154 and unfair for Pac at 154 and higher.

But I will say this about Arum and Roach, if you want to make the biggest paycheck of your fight career, you fight Pac on their terms. So if Martinez wants to make $5+mil at a catchweight, don’t put all the blame on Pac, put some on the fighter who agrees.

Martinez should fight floyd forget pac he’s too small.

i hope pac gets his head knocked off jus to shut up all the nuthuggers in my area.

You and me both bud.

And I was watching the Martinez-pavlik fight last night, and I think that him and Floyd at 154 is a really good matchup.

Don’t forget that a very basic, fundamental fighter like Kelly Pavlik only lost that fight by a couple rounds. Everyone is elated at Martinez’s KO of PW, but let’s not forget who the fuck Floyd is. That would be a great stylistic matchup with Sergio coming in and trying to out-quick the Pretty boy.
