Obviously that is the biggest challenge. I am talking about the options availible to Pac right now. Look at any other thread on this matter and you’ll see me moaning that Shane didn’t get either of the superfights he deserved.

But as to Clottey being a nobody… He lost a fight to Cotto that many believe he won and many others believe was his to lose. He is a threat to anyone in the division.

I don’t see why everyone believes Cotto was washed up for these fights. He lost to a cheat and an extraodinary talent. What does that tell us? Nothing.
Cotto hasn’t been the same since losing to Margarito, period. I don’t see his future being too bright unless he makes some serious changes.

Clottey is a bottom of the list top 10 welterweight, that’s all I can say about him. He hasn’t really fought anyone either. Come one; Jose Luis Cruz? Zab Judah? Is he even relevant anymore? Miguel Cotto? Not even close to the same fighter he once was.

Lol, I figured this trash would make its way on here.

Oscar was using it before his fight with Bernard Hopkins because his hand was cut during training. You can use it during training with permission from the Nevada boxing commission, you just can’t use it during the fight. If Mayweather has used it during a fight he’d test positive for it, which he hasn’t. Also, Floyd Mayweather has wanted to fight in Vegas for as long as I’ve been watching him[his entire pro career]. Even when Arum was promoting him he used to turn down fights because he only wanted to fight in Vegas.
cos that PED is banned somewhere… not in nevada though. figures.
It’s illegal to use it during a fight, if Floyd used it during a fight he would have been caught and punished.

Let’s say that Pac and May don’t fight each other on March 13, and have to fight someone else. Who do you want each of them to fight?

It’s obvious you don’t like anyone Pac would face, such as Foreman and Clottey.
And I wouldn’t want Mayweather to fight Malignaggi.

So, who? I’d love either of them to fight the winner of Berto/Mosley, but I don’t think either of them would be ready by March 13th.

The winner of Berto/Mosley, that’s about it in the welterweight division.

In all honesty I think Clottey is being used as a pawn to force team Mayweather into agreeing to Pacquiao’s terms.

They are using Clottey. But what happens to Mayweather when Pac signs to fight Clottey in a couple days? He needs someone to fight just as much as Pac does. Or if Mayweather is happy with his legacy and money, he could retire again.

It seems that they are content that they both can set up fights and make enough money on their own. And Pac has more than enough money to get by in the Phillipines.

what’s this??? we’re digging more dirt for somebody whose asking stringent test?!?

dayum!!!

Pain killers and hand injuries: Floyd Mayweather, Jr

i don’t recall pac asking anyone, even the hardest of 'em all, take any of those darn and ridiculous test, do ya, irish?

I don’t know what you can’t comprehend about this, but; nothing is illegal about that. If you think taking lidocaine during training is using a PED then I suppose getting consent to use over the counter cold medicine is as well.

This is part of the game. It’s a possibility he could fight Clottey, sure, but this is a move to put pressure on Floyd Mayweather. This is Bob Arum telling them “Hey, we moved on. You can meet our demands or find someone else, we’re not backing down though.”.

It’s hard to say what Mayweather will do. The winner of Mosley/Berto is a possibility, there are some fights other than Malignaggi that he could do with guys outside of his division too. Either of them could do BS fights and make money, just not the money they’d make to fight each other. I think that even if Pacquiao fights Clottey it’ll be to set up a Mayweather fight.

I have to disagree. He fights who’s out there to be fought. He fought Baldomir a few years ago, he fought Margo, he fought Chico, Judah, and Cotto… I mean, those names are actually some of Floyd’s biggest wins (except the more dangerous ones that he’s ducking).

So to say that he fights bums is unfair and untrue- he fights top line fighters, and most of the time he beats them. So this fight is not an easy one for Pac by any stretch, especially because he’s a southpaw.

Lol, are you serious? He didn’t fight anyone until he fought Baldomir and lost, then he fought a bunch of bums until he fought Margarito. Felix Flores? Nobody. Shamone Alvarez? Nobody. Jose Luis Cruz? Nobody. Zab Judah? Look at the caliber of opponents he’s fighting these days. Cotto? Maybe half the fighter he once was. Corrales? Probably his most impressive victory.

Could these be the best fights available to him? Sure. That doesn’t change the fact he’s fought 34 bums out of 38 bouts.

If I’m Pac, I don’t underestimate Clottey, a true welterweight. Especially if they let Clottey come in at 147.

If Floyd does actually end up fighting Shane, it will be interesting to see if he asks for similar drug testing to what he’s asking from Pac, what with Shane being implicated in the whole Balco thing.

I’ll just mention this guy because of the the thread; Floyd Mayweather.

Looks like Mayweather wouldn’t budge, Clottey/Pacquiao is going to be in Dallas. The fights are also going to “compete”, it sounds like we might have the Mayweather fight on the 13th and Pacquiao fight on the 14th[or later]. I actually kind of hope Mayweather fights Malignaggi so Malignaggi catches a break lol, I’d really like to see him fight Timothy Bradley though.
