Pacific Rim

Yeah, come on guys scratch the balls in public for a second, it’s fantasy.

I read the reason there are two pilots is the same reason they’re manned mecha and not drones, the pilots are psychic and it tales two to operate the massive mecha or Jaeger

Fixed.

Yeah maybe your right. But I am not a sucker for 3d Imax. Maybe if I was bored.

Conversation between my friend and I yesterday:
Him: “Think this movie will be any good?”
Me: “There’s a gigantic robot using an oil tanker as a mace against some titanic demon beast.”
Him: “What does that alone just like make the movie for you?”
Me: “Yes.”
“Yo, want to see Pacific Rim this weekend?”
“I duno, it’ll probably suck”
“It’s giant Mechs + giant monsters + glados, impossiburu”

Right on. Had heard that Del Toro was tying to do a Lovecraft adaptation but it kept falling through. Had also read that he was pushing HARD to be behind the wheel on the Pet Cemetery remake, but that fell through as well.

Do you know what fan trailer turned blockbuster I’m taking about?
You might be thinking of Mama, about the two girls living in the woods with the ghost. It was a short film that Del Toro saw, then he produced the big picture (both were directed by the same guy).

P.S. - I got it from Redbox over the weekend. Neat concept, but disappointing. It’s PG-13, so it felt like a basic SyFy channel ghost movie.

So stoked to see this, for all the reasons already brought up. Del Toro is an awesome filmmaker and “Transformers vs. Cloverfield” has major entertainment potential.
No, the movie I’m thinking of is a sci-fi flick with flying robots and big explosions. I’ll Google it. Thanks though.

The neural interface to the Jaeger required too much of a mental strain for one person to effectively control it. So they went with a left hemisphere/ right hemisphere control with two pilots.

The neural handshake creates a link between the two consciousness which I assume is what allows them to pilot the mech in sync without verbally yelling “right foot, left foot”

This movie reminds me of Voltron growing up. Yes I know there are 3 different Voltrons. I was particular to the Lion one myself.

Review makes it sound pretty good…

I am taking my 11 year old to see this in IMAX 3D on opening night. We are both so fucking stoked I think I might have a heart attack while waiting in line.

Mechs vs. Giant Aliens ------ how is this not the most awesome thing ever?

When the Jaeger blows up would that be a Jaeger Bomb? I need a drink so bad.

Im so jealous you have an excuse to by the inevidable toys that come out. Might have to use amazon just to avoid the shame in person.

Where is MattyXL and him shitting on this thread?

I got a drink in me, so feeling much better. Whiskey and Diet Coke.

I’ll be seeing this Friday night. I’m a fan of Del Toro and i’m in the mood to see giants monsters and robots duke it out.

It’s weird to see the guy from It’s ALways Sunny in Philiadelphia in this.

Lol this is me to a T. When i go to a movie i dont want to think. I do enough thinking the rest of time. I want to be entertained. THough some movies even push to flaws to far for me but its more rare than many people i think

This film smells so much like a childs movie that I doubt Ill waste money on it. All it will be is all the traditional landmarks getting smashed, all the typical “TEAM AMERICA FUCK YEAH!” and gung-ho warrior attitude prevalent in so many action films these days.

Fights go bad then they get the upperhand, surprisingly we win? Nah, wont waste my money.
