Let’s hope the judges for this bout are not the ones from last night’s Williams- Martinez fight. That cat Pierre should be dragged out back and shot for his 119-110 call.
fuckin boxing…
I couldn’t believe it when I heard 119-110 too. That was ridiculous. I personally thought the fight could’ve gone either way. There were a couple of rounds that were pretty tough to call.
Martinez was really impressive. He kept catching Paul with the right hook. Williams needs to tighten up his defense.

haha yea that ref was funny, telling them “This is boxing, not wrestling.” He wouldn’t let them fight on the inside AT ALL though- even if they were still hitting he’d break them up.

Typical Mayweather…Wanting to fight Manny just 4 months after he fought Cotto. Whens the last time we saw Mayweather fight 4 months after a tough match? gimme a break the guys looking for a way out like when he challenged Mosley immediately after Mosley had 2 tough fights that year and now hes crying about Mosley “Ducking Him”. he’ll try to do the same to Pac but talk all he wants, theyre gonna fight eventually and May will lose.
in the olded days, boxers used to have more than 1 fight a month… so I don’t think it affects boxers the way it is portrayed. This maybe an exception because pac has a broken eardrum, that may need alot more than 3 months to heal.
… Breaking news!!! i was gonna go to wikipedia to see how pac has done on short rest when i stumble upon this…
There are several reasons why thats changed. Yeah sure fighters fought a lot more often back then but there were also a lot more injuries, deaths, and lasting brain damage. Fighters now are taken care of way better, well at least the big money fighters, than they were and aren’t forced to fight all the time. I say if they have an easy fight, take little damage, and just overall hold up physically then go for it and fight whenever you want. My point was that Pac did seem to take a physical beating in the cotto fight, the most damage hes taken since marquez anyway and i think he needs more time to heal but only manny knows his body and if he wants to fight, ill be glad to win some more money off of his win this march.
i do see your point though, i think generally fighters were a lot tougher back then but these guys have a demanding sport and they need to be healthy to compete.

well three months after the second marquez fight, manny fought and destroyed david diaz. I Know he’s not an “A” fighter but that was still an amazing performance that couldn’t have been any better at his first fight at 135.
Pac is a freak of nature and I don’t think he would have taken the fight if he knew he wouldn’t be ready. I think he believes that this fight will clinch his presidency. He won’t lose this fight.

Barring seriuos injury a quicker fight is more of a benefit. Actual competition keeps you sharper and more focus in training. I don’t know about pac’s ear drum but if he doesn’t have any serious injuries he’s good. It’s closer to 5 months, and your talking about month-month half rest, how much does a competing boxer need?
Here a good interview/article of what trainer Ron Frazier thinks about the fight. Has some good points and insight on the match-up…Also a lil info on Roy Jones Jr
