Owlie's Training Log

Happy Thanksgiving! I definitely ate a bit more than I had planned, but nothing that can’t be fixed within a day or so.

Strong shoulder workout.

40s for 10 is some strong overhead pressing there lady

Thanks, Bobbi. I saw a video of someone doing it and decided I had to.

My shit has been feeling really shitty lately. I’ve been getting decent sleep too 8hrs/night, but still waking up feeling really tired.

I’ve pretty much removed everything from my diet to see if I can figure out what is causing this generalized malaise. I’m off bread(anything with gluten or yeast for that matter), dairy(allowing greek yogurt for the probiotics), sugar including fruit(but allowing tropical fruits, bananas etc.).

Yeah, so I have basically been eating eggs, veggies, and ummm some meat, oatmeal and brown rice. A few nuts. yeah it sucks but I already feel 100x better.I really do just get so sick of eating sometimes. I just want to eat chocolate cheerios and milk and that’s it dammit, but I know if I do that I will feel like shit.

Deadlifted friday, no PRs. Did cardio Sunday and yesterday. Got in the sauna yesterday which I thought would be relaxing. WRONG. exactly wrong. We have unisex saunas at our gym and of course some fat elderly man wanted to chat with me which was all well and good until he started asking me about where I go the school and what year I was while obviously doing some very tricky (for him) mental math to figure out how old I am.

The effort was displayed on his face. Ugh no thanks. The hot tub was looking even more lecherous so I just got in the shower where I almost promptly passed out (maybe heat exhaustion or lack of cals?) Anyway.

I really want to squat today, but I’ve been having terrible pain in my elbows when I squat and they are just sort of tender all the time. Maybe I need to wrap them?

That was it. I’m starting to feel better, I would say I’m at 75%. Day off tomorrow, and then I hope I’m back at 100% by Thurs. I’ve decided I’m going to stop pressuring myself to eat more, at least for a little while. I got to a breaking point and my body just wasn’t having it.

rock steady workout all around Owlie. the numbers show you’re feeling better

Agreed with Mainy! Those numbers are absolutely showing how well you’re feeling! Damn woman!!

Btw, I was thinking of you when I read the article from Christian Thib on the homepage - somewhere in there he said he trains 7 days a week and only takes a day off when something comes up or when he needs it…I just remember you toying with your training schedule and questioning whether or not you needed more time off, or less time off…well, its good to know that there’s someone out there who condones full-week training. Anyways, you’ll have to read the article since I just skimmed it and your training goals might be completely different from those of Thibs, but I just thought I’d mention.

Keep it up girlie!

I hate your squat… I mean that in a total “You rock” kinda way ;D

Seriously your strength is mind-blowing. Hello Kitty doing stiff leg DLs with 135 lbs haha

Damn I’m impressed with your numbers. You earned it – but I still hate you. Especially for squats.

Yep. Your numbers are incredible, especially when put in the context of your body weight. What meet are you doing next? (Hint, hint.)

This, squared.

It blows my mind what a natural lifter you are, esp considering your weight. Its kinda ridic, Owlie…you should capitalize on that and go kill at some comps!

No pressure…

Weak…

My 3 year old niece could beat your lifts.

With one arm.

While suffering from AIDS.

Just making sure you stay motivated.

I really owe some of my strength to good leverages/good proportions for squat and bench and maybe a little bit of genetics. The reason my weight stays down(relatively speaking) is because I have an active job where I am on my feet all day moving boxes and stuff out of a warehouse. Also, I am a sensitive little person with intolerances to almost all my favorite foods that would be getting me in trouble, specifically baked stuff. Like recently I’ve had to sort of go into a “detox mode” and cut a bunch of shit out of my diet because I could tell my body was reacting to something. I guess I really should get formally tested one day soon so I can find out what actually needs to stay out of my mouth.

I guess I am proud of where I stand now, but I am most proud of how far I have come emotionally/mentally dealing with body image issues and feelings of inferiority. I’ve completely redefined my idea of beauty, especially with respect to the female form. I also don’t place nearly as much importance on aesthetics or achieving a certain arbitrary ideal as I once did. I mean of course it is a daily struggle, but I’ve come a long way and I feel much more empowered. I take probably the most pride in my health because I came from a period in my life where I was very unhealthy at a very young age.

So, Thank you Kimba, Maschy, Nikki, and Alisa, (NO THANKS TO YOU C_C lol)!!! Let me also remind you all that you are strong females and you help keep me motivated and inspired each day!
